Discuss The Game

Well, USC got its blowout. I found the offense to be sluggish and lacking explosiveness. The way Clay Helton clutched that play sheet I suspect he called some plays today too. Was the defense better or did Utah State’s offense lack anything capable of pushing the Trojans? Good thing Stanford was not today.

  1. Wolf,
The identity of the coaching staff and team is being revealed before your eyes—that includes another ejection. Do we have other yet to be disclosed issues with this coaching staff and team? Ask the tough questions during the presser! Report back!

  2. Please shut the hell up and enjoy the victory! Even in a blowout win U still look for negativity.. .On to Stanford!

  3. A win! Now north to ‘legoland’ and their ‘cozy’ 50 +/- K stadoum. ‘legoland’ the place where the con reigns supreme.

  4. Not sure what game SW was watching, the team played better with more focus, a lot more work to do. Next game will give us a better idea of what direction USC will go. Continue practicing and prep. In the end we must fight on. #nonegativechatter

  5. Convincing win. All is well in Trojanland. Clearly, last week was an aberration. Happy times are here again.

  6. Team looked good overall against mediocre comp and that’s just fine for now. Glad both QBs got a lot of reps, looked pretty good, and that Harris even got in. He could really help in the clutch later on.

Now take no prisoners, beat STAN, get ranked again, and rejoice that Adoree, our MVP, is a Trojan. Boy, has he blossomed. What a playmaker stud.

  7. “Good thing Stanford was not today!.” SW, maybe the Trojans kick Stanford A@@ today. Why not ? Why not, SW, you PATHETIC LOSER !!!

  8. Darnold and Ware, there is the future of USC football. Both should start against Stanford. Get the line and they win, a lot. Browne has become a statue back there and his feet are to happy.

    • Agreed. Ware really stepped up. And the defense looked rock solid across the board. Still need to get to the QB more. Any idea what’s up with Jones and only 5 carries?

      • Couldn’t disagree more. Darnold faced a 2nd/3rd string Utah State defense today. Max caught fire in the 2nd quarter and never let up. He rolled out over and over completing TD passes. Steveg, the words “happy feet” are inappropriate with regard to Mr. Browne.Does Capistrano Beach mean anything to you.?…..

        • No it doesn’t, perhaps because it is still early. I was not personally impressed with Browne. I am sure he will start at Stanford, and I hope he proves me wrong.

  9. Good tune up game and yes the Offense started out slow again !

I’ve said it before, Cody Kessler should have forgone his senior year allowing Max to get 1 season in before 2016 !!

Kessler stuck around for an 8 – 5 season and a bowl loss, that wasn’t necessary !!!

So now its learning on the fly ?

Max is getting better and Darnald played well also !

The Offensive Line still a “C”, it’s amazing how a Line that is considered one of the best in the Country plays average against Utah State ??

I guess Neil Cab Callaway isn’t that good, but neither was the one before him, or the one before that, or the one before that…..

Makes no sense to me ?

    Good Win

    • A lot of us could never understand why our obviously mediocre OL was ever hyped big to begin with. The sports media always needs storylines and they created one by vaulting the Trojans’ OL into the stratosphere because of our OL tradition, big brand name, new OL coach, new supposedly tough HC and Zach Banner, the giant son of HOFer Lincoln Kennedy. Magic make believe.

Ironically, our DL looks pretty good, somehow. I guess it all evens out in the end. We’ll see how we stack up against STAN and that will tell the tale.

      • It’s hard to tell how good our DL is because Utah State stupidly started out trying to beat our speed at the corners instead of attacking our interior DL and make gutless short passes and basically give us the game. Everyone could move up because Utah State didn’t stretch the field at all vertically. But I enjoyed a laugher after the last several games.

      • ‘If’ the ‘D’ line brings what KS St. did last Friday (2nd September) against Stanford I like our chances very very much i.e. McCafferty broke a td 1st half and late in the game to seal the victory but in between he was constantly sacked behind the line of scrimmage.

Prendergast has watched that over and over as that is the only game Stanford has played so far.

        • Kst is much better coached and better defensively than Gomer’s crap team. Stanford will get theirs, meanwhile Gomers pathetic O will suck it up again

          • Yeah I get it ‘but’ had KS St. come with a decent ‘qb’ they might have won that game. They didn’t so they lost.

It will be a defensive battle and Shaw relies, because he as to this year, on McCafferty – the ‘qb’ ain’t no Andrew Luck. The question is whether Brown can man up

  10. If I have a bitch it is the stadium and its so called security. I missed the first score and the band because they pretended to have security. I can point out the flaws but suffice it to say a lawsuit could succeed if anyone brings a gun to the game those people watching those metal detectors were a joke. Then millions of dollars raised and the seats are still rotting crap.
But I am in a good mood for the rest of the day. (I may even stop saying no more season tickets)

  11. Hate to say I told you so but I did. Utah State is turrible as Charles Barkley would say. Today was a scrimmage. Next week determines the season.

    • And Sanford thanks the bozo u staff for providing good film on what a home bozo team can do vs a cupcake dog.

  12. Glad we got the win but, we need to build on it if we want to beat the farm and they are beatable, but only if we improve much more

  13. Chuma Edoga is lucky he only got thrown out of the game!!

If he was in the deep south, he would have been shot. How dare he push the authorities!! The boy ought to know better!

  14. Solid game, fight on. They made improvements from last week’s and hopefully they will only get better.

  15. This offense is ten pounds of crap in a five pound bag and they do none of it well. Once again, the offensive line was beaten time and again at the point of attack. When your running backs are getting hit the second they get the ball something is wrong. Receivers did not get any type of separation and when they did, Brown under threw them. Just like under Kiffin and Sark, the TE was under utilized. If they would use the TE between the hash marks it would keep the safeties honest on a Cover 2 and the FS occupied in a Cover 3. In short, Stanford may do what Bama did to USC next weekend, especially coming off of a bye week.
I also had an interesting conversation with one of the people who sit near my seats. Here is the hypothetical. LSU struggles this year and goes to a second tier bowl game. Les Myles gets fired. The knucklehead LSU A.D. hires Kiffin. Sark becomes Bama’s O.C. USC goes after Myles and lands him. He brings with him Coach O, Tim Davis, and hires back Norm Chow, who I think is coaching high school somewhere in SoCal. That’s a wild scenario, and to be honest, I don’t think the USC admin. has the stones to make it happen.

    • Really ?? hire a fired LSU coach that ranks up there with hiring another Pete Carroll butt kisser

      • Sure it does…Thats why he has a NC ring and has been winning 10 games a year. Not too many people have the stones to be the head coach at USC as we’ve seen..he does.

  16. My thoughts are: Defense is solid. Browne is a Game Manager. Darnold is a Playmaker. Pac 12 is weak and there for the taking.

  17. Probably get deleted but; At the stadium today after waiting a half hour in line to prove there wasn’t a bomb in my hat, I made my way to the men’s room. Mind you today was a giveaway of Marcus Allen. On my way into the restroom I heard a father and toddler talking. Dad, “do you want me to hold your bobble head, son?” Son “no dad I can go pee by myself.”
The next thing I heard was the stadium announcer telling me that being at the stadium a half hour early was not early enough to allow me to see the Trojan scoring drive only took 3 plays.

  18. I thought that the defense played well. The offense looked well too. Obviously, they have a long way to go. But today was a step in the right direction. It was great to see them run a screen play. They should run it more often. Maybe even a draw. They need to use the tight ends more. The special teams were great with the blocked punt and the punt return for a TD. Also, it was great to see them kick the kick-off deep into the end zone. I’ve always wondered why they haven’t been able to do that in the past. Cedric Ware looked great. The whole team was much improved over last week. The next 2 weeks will give us a clearer picture as to how good this team really is.

  19. Scott,

I see you have nothing positive to say again. Special teams looked awesome and we only gave up 7 points. Were you watching the same game? Maybe we don’t want to show Stanford everything.
