Often opening with Stanford, which indicates that both schools having Notre Dame on their schedule is causing this.
No duh, since ND has no conference, if they are on your schedule it will vary when it happens, otherwise most everybody else gets their nonconference games out first. Except the SEC that will have Chattanooga in Nov!
Basic logic – you play 9 conference games, and you get Notre Dame later in the year – you have to play a conference game in either the first, second, or third game. Next stop….. rocket science.
