E.J. Price Drama

Offensive tackle E.J. Price has disappeared from the football program, which I mentioned last night. I have checked and no one knows anything about any alleged incident with Clay Helton, which some websites reported.

I can confirm Price had a small incident with a football staff member, which seems to be overblown on the staffer’s part. So no alternations. But Price looks gone. And Clay Helton will address it tonight. I know for weeks Price has been homesick.

  1. Will Coach Clay do one of those blacked out witness protection videos to hide his true identity?
    I love those.

  2. If Price actually hit a coach in the face, he should be kicked out of school and even charged with assault. I don’t care how good he is.

  3. Price forgot to bring his blankie, er woobie, and should be forced to watch Mr. Mom, the Michael Keaton classic, at least once before he’s allowed to slink back to Georgia under cover of darkness.

  4. I can see the trolls hoping we eventually get down to their level, but ain’t happening. Fight On.

  5. Will this be the first of a few? Many ?

The ship may be sinking Swann, you might want to call Tom Herman now.

    • Do you know that all of USC’s football coaches are on long term Ks? They are. Right now, HOU’s a better job than USC’s. And Herman can go wherever he wants and name his price. Seriously, why would he want to take on the mess left by the four stooges: the Kiffer, Sark, Gomer and Haden?

      • Houston is in a conference that is so weak Navy is their only competition.

You waive lots of money at him and BEG.

As for the assistants, pay them off and wish them well.

If USC wants to fix this mess, and sometimes I wonder if they do, it’s going to cost them a lot of money, which they have but are they willing to spend it.

        • HOU’s one of the top 6 teams in the U.S.

USC doesn’t even have one single AP or Coaches poll vote. Not only not ranked – not one single vote.

Lots of teams will be begging for Herman, some of which have more money to spend than USC does.

Nikias is clueless about the real importance of football to USC. He doesn’t get it nearly as well as Sample did.

Anyway, I’m betting Herman never steps on the USC campus for an interview. Hope that proves incorrect.

          • USC has more money than anybody but I’m sure there is some ex usc assistant that they can hire

          • Actually STAN has a lot more $ than USC and hiring a STAN asst at a great price has worked perfectly for them.

USC had no idea things would get this bad, this quickly, with two slaughters against major powers right off the bat.

Once USC starts losing large general donations unconnected to football, things will start to hit home for Nikias. Until then, SC just hopes for a win against UTAH. We’re not exactly aiming high nowadays. Hoping for a minor bowl is more like it.

          • If USC is going to back the brink s truck up to a current coach, then I hope it’s Michigan States, Mark Dantonio, and not Herman. Because personally, I’m sick and tired of all this spread offense crap, let’s go get somebody that will bring SC football back. Tough defense, and run the ball by controlling the line of scrimmage.

          • The other guy they need to take a look at is Rocky Long at SDSU. He actually uses a FB and TE and they run the ball with an attitude. Also, their OC, Al Borges, is one of the best.

          • He’s 60, no thanks. Offer Gruden 8 million s and all the Hooters girls he can handle !

          • I agree that Herman is the flavor of the month but we don’t need another version of the spread offense. It may put up points and win some games but pro style offenses win championships.
Helton said he was going back to run first but did nothing to actually indicate he meant it.

          • The smash mouth type of offense will eventually come full circle. Because nfl scouts, and coaches are saying the spread type offensive’s are not preparing offensive linemen, and quarterbacks for the nfl.

          • I knew Clay Helton was a liar the day he hired his brother, and that confirmed, that USC was not going to play physical, run first, football.

          • I was watching a tweet between a prominent former player and a friend of his, asking about Tom Herman, the answer was a quick NO from the former player.

  6. Gee, a freshman from a small town in GA comes across country to LA. College academics and college football are hard work. He wants to go home. How many freshmen around the country are feeling like now and aren’t playing football?

    • It’s deeper than that. This will be the first of many. Helton is done after this. Just watch.

          • It’s a big cluster f####. Several players are unhappy. Helton wasn’t truthful in recruiting. That’s a big no no with parents. Especially those from out of state.

          • Actually, lying is part of the very culture of recruiting. In the end, you perform really well, you play – where you can help the team the most. Adoree’s back on offense and I don’t think he really likes it one bit since he’s already carrying the team as it is.

I’m sure no other big-time coaches are telling players/parents what they want to hear. Both Orgeron and the Kiffer lied with the best of them.

Sounds like you know the skinny. But I think dishonesty is the least of Gomer’s true problems.

      • Can you honestly see harmless Gomer doing anything that deserved a punch from a giant football player?

From what you know, did Price literally punch Gomer? If so, he should be arrested. If not, why all the smoke and what was the reason?

  7. well, Dummies, looks like all those “#Where’sMique” quips REALLY blew up in your faces, eh???

    HAWR-HAWR!!!

    #Where’sEJ???
    #Where’sOsa??
    #Where’sDonHill??
    #Where’sMaxie???
    #Where’sT-Fail??

ps: we KNOW where Mique is!!! isn’t it refreshing that he simply misses his GF??? sounds rather quaint….as opposed to say, crotch stomping, multi-state Sexual assault, ref pushing or punching coaches in the kisser!!!

  8. WTF, players being “erased” and now “disappearing” – shades of a Harry Potter movie.

      • USC obviously has some severe dead weight brought in by Sark. Best move on and face reality. Every new coach has to do it and if Gomer won’t, I think Swann will make him. Swann already knows substantially more about championship football than Gomer does. It’s just a fact.

  9. I for one am excited about the Utah game, unlike the Alabama and Stanford games where I did not think SC had a chance to win. O.K., I thought we had a chance against the Indians, err, Cardinal, and I look forward to the rematch in the Pac-12 championship game, unless it is Washington or Oregon.

This Darnold kid has a lot of energy, and I predict it will rub off on the up-to-now moribund offense. And watch the running game explode as well.

Now, if only the defensive backs can learn to stay on their man

  10. I was listening to PMS during their first hour and Papadakis was commenting on the state of USC football. Now I know that Papadakis is a blowhard at times, but he has much more inside info than a majority of us. Here is a synopsis of what he stated, aside from the fact that Helton is in over his head and Haden totally screwed this whole thing up.
1.) JuJu Smith basically practices when he wants. So, if he is acting like a diva and he doesn’t feel like practicing it is o.k? How are you going to foster any type of team unity when you allow a prominent player to do this? Think this would happen if a competent coach was at SC?
2.) Helton has always wanted Darnold to be the QB. Fine, but unless they completely change their offensive philosophy and they gain an identity on offense in the next three days, don’t expect anything major miracles.
3.) Neil Calloway and the offensive line is a mess. Again, he is trying to get these guys to play within the spread concept when they are not equipped to. Also, there is no fear of losing one’s job. That’s why Mr. All-America, Banner, can have five false start penalties, give a half a** effort on most plays, and still be in the lineup.
4.) When you have a bunch of 4-5 star recruits in a situation like this, instead of pulling together and getting something done, they will be out for themselves looking forward to the NFL.
Like I’ve stated, I’m expecting for this thing to take an immediate 180 and what SC needs to do is a complete housecleaning of anything having to do with Pat Haden.

    • If what PP says is true and JuJu practices whenever he wants (which I don’t believe), then Gomer has to go at season’s end and Haden needs to be removed from any fundraising activity by year’s end as well.

Banner’s never been very good, but he’s still the best we have. That’s why we are playing him. We have severe OL talent problems that override any coaching. Gomer didn’t ruin our o-line. He’s stuck with it.

As I said earlier, on Sunday Swann “suggested” to Gomer some immed changes, which included Darnold starting against UTAH. Gomer’s already basically a figurehead. Lame city!

        • He’s a good old USC Golden Boy. He and Nikias are big buddies and Nikias certainly has the authority to keep Haden, who had a great track record in everything he tried -before he failed at USC.

Nikias begged Haden to take the AD job and Haden took it, then bent him over for a huge salary and brought in his buddy McKay, to watch practice for 850K a year. It’s all a big club. Haden was totally unqualified but figured he could just learn on the job.

But now all these principals have a runaway train on their hands – a horrible USC football program because of too many hiring misfires. Surprisingly, Haden’s not really a football guy at all.

I know a few of Haden’s friends and it’s not like they suddenly aren’t his friends anymore. If I see them, I don’t bring up Haden. Why? It’s not like they want to talk about the big L.A. Times article that sunk their friend Haden for good.

Like it or not, Haden did a lot of good for USC in his life, pre-hiring the Drunk. Just the smallest changes can make the biggest differences. Who knows? Had he hired Petersen instead of the Drunk, USC might be a top 10 team right now and just coming off a victory over STAN. We’ll never know.

Now the ball’s in Swann’s court. We’ll see if he has what Haden didn’t and if he can somehow steer USC out of this huge mess. Lots of moving parts, egos, questions that need answering and issues that need solving ahead. Bumpy ride I suspect.

          • Swann IS Haden.
They are golf buddies and two out of the same tradition and mindset.
Swann is also learning on the job. Who do you think he’s going to call when no one else is listening? St. Pat & Fast Max.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

    • Anything to do with St. Pat like, for instance, his fellow Augusta member and golf buddy The Swan?

  11. No one on this team should think that they deserve to be playing. When you have your best player, Adoree’, also being the best competitor and the best sportsman, guy always helps opposing players up and exudes class, but also have guys who seem to be acting entitled, see Banner and Juju, this team- these young men- are begging for a coach to lead them.

  12. E. J. Price is leaving the Program, IMO, because he sees a USC Offensive Coordinator who is way past his prime, incompetent, a waste of E. J.’s time. If E. J. is as loaded with potential as people think, a quality College OC will eventually provide him with a stellar NFL Career.
