  1. This coaching staff is worse than I thought, I remember Clay Helton took his sweet time putting this staff together, while others had there’s in place after a week or two . Somebody remind me once again, why Pat Haden didn’t give Ed Orgeron a shot at the job, but eventually gives it to, Helton?

    • Tough to get hired when you lose to ND and ucla.

As far as Helton goes, that was Nikias and the BOTs. They made the call.

    • The staff took so long because no quality big name coaches would work for Helton. Hence we ended up with this staff of lightweights. Tee and Tyson? lol. Nansen is only here for the Poly connect and because he,s “JuJus uncle Johnny. lol. BKUs learning on the job thè OL coaches are has been so. All becauseHelton is the inexperienced wrong guy! It’s time to make Clancy the interim and pink slip Clay and make a world class search and hire. I start with Briles or Herman!

      • Art Brilles would be a public relations nightmare for USC. And Tom Herman? ..No thanks! Because I’m sick n tired of all of the spread offense, nonsense. Gimme a coach that wants to control the line of scrimmage, and run the ball.

        • Whoa Fred. Do you wanna win or lose playing archaic 1970s footall because it’s “physical” Spread teams aren’t physical? Ohio State disagrees. Houston disagrees. What do they have in common? Tom Herman. On Briles, public relations nightmare? Nothing can be worse than the Haden and now Helton era.

          • John, did you watch the Stanford game? They’ve been kicking the crap out of everyone in the conference the last five years and they play archaic 1970’s football. One more question for you. Didn’t just about everyone in the 1970’s run the wishbone because Texas and Oklahoma were doing it? So, by your logic, USC should’ve been doing the same in the 1970’s when they won three National Titles running the I formation.

          • I watch Stanford not win National Championships. That’s what I do. While I watch the Ohio States, Auburns, Oregon’s get in to the payoffs and win.

        • Fred, simply just don’t agree. We need to re-tool the Trojan philosophy which is now spiraling the drain in mediocrity. We are not disciplined. We are SOFT. We shoot ourselves in the foot far too often. We have not even had excellent position coaches to develop our highly rated recruits.. Our team plays like a malfunctioning PC version of football now under this current regime. Thankfully Haden is gone, I wish Nikias were also as he obviously spearheads a losing football philosophy. I definitely hope that Swannie mans up and takes a hardline approach to drastic improving philosophical change. Be it spread/option football or pro set style, I just want relief from our current “deer in the headlights, fly by the seat of your pants” style!
Guys like Herman, Briles, Chris Petersen, Gary Patterson (tcu) Bobby Petrino, Herman Meyer, Saban are all tough discipline, hardline fundamentals guys who are all armed with great teaching staffs. Helton probably couldn’t make the staff for any of the above mentioned although he’s a career position coach. To have given Helton this job was a poor a decision as could have possibly been made by the Haden/Nikias fiasco. Hell Fred, I’d even be happy if Jim Tressel were to get an interview. I’m not giving a damn about “public relations nightmares” that stuff fixes itself with “W”s….. Fight On

          • Ha! Jim Tressel also had a legitimate staff, and coached up disciplined players elite players. We have elite players but that is where it stops under Gomer, errr Helton..

    • Jackie the trans and the other rah rahs said Ed was too uncouth for the Tribute to Troy cocktail party crowd. That is why is is so delicious that his replacement the tasteful Sark would show up stark raving mad drunk and make a fool of himself at that very event.

    • Pat was afraid if he made Orgeron Head Coach, at some point he would have to invite him to LACC or Augusta for a round of golf. THAT was never going to happen.

  2. So Baxter said he fired the students for not getting out there. By watching it again I see it was painfully obvious nobody wanted to stop the extra point attempt.
The ends took half a step towards the kicker and stopped. Whatever happened to blocking kicks? A blocked kick can be run back for points. Baxter needs to look in a mirror the next time he feels the urge to fire someone.

  3. People are posting bogus stuff and Scout and Rivals just to see what Wolf will bite on next… “A source tells me…”

  4. Cam, it’s not sort of embarrassing, it’s completely embarrassing. However, it is going to get worse before it gets better. This team is lost and there is not a damn thing Helton can do about it. Hopefully, Swann has some leads as to who could come in and right the ship. The thing about a program USC is that it won’t take long to get back to where we need to be if we bring in the right man. Of course, that’s a big if.

  5. Perhaps 10 players as one might have had equipment issues, etc. Or perhaps 9 players which might happen once a decade. But 8???
