Defensive tackle Noah Jefferson, who has not played since the Alabama game because of a shoulder injury, did not practice this week because of a personal issue in Las Vegas. He will not attend the Utah game.

Helton spent five minutes after practice with Adoree Jackson reviewing offensive plays. It’s desperate times, man.

  3. It’s desperate times? But at the beginning of the season you were asking why Adore wasn’t being utilized.
    The time is really hog heaven for Scott Wolf. If Helton breaths there’s a chance to criticize.
    Everybody is so focused on Helton they are forgetting the game. If Clay has a BM Tmz has someone analyzing it for gluten…

  4. Personally i like Helton as a person but sometimes people are better as Assistants than a Head Coach

    • The problem is most everybody well-connected to football already had this figured out while Helton was an asst and before he was scooped up by Nikias as the newest unqualified USC savior. What a lot of the national media never focus on is Nikias’ huge involvement in Helton’s hire. It all started right at the very top, “Inmates running the asylum” created the current USC situation.

      Every day we hear a new reason about why a different player is at home, leaving the program, upset with coaching or under investigation. Helton has no control. He made the players his buddies and they think he’s just a dude, not a good coach.

    • Clay Helton was a figure head offensive coordinator, and quarterback coach, and appeared to be a gofer for the most part. Which is why I found it to be hilarious, that rumor had him going to Memphis as their head coach…Really ? Only Pat Haden would believe something stupid like that, because he never did any research on coaches.

      • I truly believe that once Haden realized how hard being the A.D. at a school like USC is He wanted no part of it. He stayed on because his giant ego loved the perks and prestige of the position.

    • Football isn’t about liking or disliking coaches, its about results, and USC isn’t seeing results.

  5. If you still have a chance to watch College Football Live today on ESPN, don’t miss it. They have a giant segment on The Troubled Trojans – Where Did USC Go Wrong. Very enlightening, humorous and foreboding. Nobody can really keep from laughing at the Trojans. Just the way it is.

    Nikias and Haden, stupid to the core re football admin. The Kiffer, Sark and Helton – all soft, weak and never should have been given the fully inbred USC job.

    Can Swann, another inbred USC dude, fix it? Many think not. At least not quickly.

    • When Pat Haden gave Lane Kiffen, and basketball coach, Kevin O’Neill that extra year, that neither one of them deserved, then I sensed he was a indecisive, spineless, Idiot athletic, administrator. And guess what ? He proved me correct .

      • Fortunately, USC’s baby cross-town rival is ucla, probably the nation’s most underachieving football program of all time.

        Helton still killed you PED Protector Uers 40-21. ucla is always somebody lower on the L.A. totem pole. Thanks for playing.

        • Helton certainly strikes fear in the hearts of all who face him. He is the master of the game and few are his equal.
          In the interim, Mora is 3-4 against Clown College and SoCal can’t seem to shake that nickname.
          As I have said many times before, you will one day look back at the Kiffin years as The Good Old Days.
          PS. what are the odds Helton makes it to the UCLA game?

            Then on 11/19 Gomer will take down The Chimp yet again, just like last time. Who needs to be a master to hammer ucla? ucla hasn’t won a Rose Bowl since ’86. Master? The only master in ucla’s vocabulary is master of futility – the little gutties. Lose On! Go Cardinal!

    • Yes, I just watched it, and the guys on College Football Live, just spent the first 10 minutes of the show going all in on USC. ..lol I hope Pat Haden was watching, and Lynn Swann, too for that matter.

      • At least 2 out of 3 said USC’s still a great job. It was a good little argument there. I think Paul Finebaum got backed off pretty good by the other two.

        But overall, USC got objectively taken to the woodshed – like we deserve!

  6. You can’t hire the weakest link of the two previous coaching staffs, who was mentored by two FOOLS, then turnaround, and expect different results. What kind of imbecile does that ?!!!

  7. Jackson is having a great year on D. Leave him be. Bringing him in for 5 plays a game is not going to fool anybody. Move JuJu around – try reverses, change routes, put him in the slot, etc. anything. BTW, don’t they have speed merchants in Dominic Davis, Trevon Sydney. They could include Jalen Greene more in the 3 receiver sets to keep the D honest as he is not only fast but would make the defense take note of the pass option out there.

    • agent13, I assume USC isn’t paying you a cent to coach Trojan receivers and yet USC’s Receivers Coach Tee Martin hasn’t a clue what you are talking about. Same goes for Head Coach Helton..

    Rumor is EJ Price punched Clay Helton in the face. I didn’t believe it when I first heard it a couple of days ago, but it’s really picked up steam.

    I believe it now.

        • I was chatting with an older alum who graduated in 1963. He is in the same circles as the trustee’s. There are some very unhappy campers with a lot of money and power. His understanding is Helton will not be here in 2017.

          • The chatter is also that Helton may not last past October. Not because of the losing, but the circus surrounding the program.

          • That is correct, Swann has someone in mind to keep watch on the program from his nfl days should a change happen soon.

          • Problem is we hear this every year.

            And it was the BOTs who along with Nikias named Helton is the next unqualified USC failure.

            Just maybe we need a new method, one that works this time.

      • That’s what he actually said. I don’t believe him. I think he actually punched Helton. At first it sounded like they were denying it, but now it sounds like it happened

        • Source? Gomer’s face didn’t look like it had a mark on it which you think you’d see from a punch from a 350 pounder.

          • A person familiar with the situation says nothing happen. I tend to believe her, she works for Lynn.

          • Why would even aggravated homesickness cause a giant man to want to punch out his jolly yuk, yuk coach? We obviously don’t know jack about what’s going on at SC.

          • Swann’s already telling Gomer what he wants to see done.

            Anything else you can divulge about other changes and timing?

          • I know, Swann wanted Sam starting and AJ on offense. From what I know, Helton was on campus having lunch today and my friend who works in the Athl Department said when he returned Swann was waiting for him, she said “D”. Clay looked stressed out after his meeting with Lynn.

          • Lol.. I wonder if Lynn allows him on the plane should they lose. (jkg). Helton will never get a HC gig, he needs to refocus and set down with experienced OC’s and learn to better coach.

          • I really don’t think Swann will pull a Capper and fire Helton during the season, unless something bizarre happens.

          • Also several players mentioned re: leaving the program are tweeting they are not leaving USC. The common read was please don’t read into the rumors, the people writing it have baseless info. I am a Trojan for life.

          • I seen that. It’s just too hard to believe anything positive at this point. We’re in trouble.

    Reports say Tee Martin busted in to a players only team meeting on the plane ride home and started to point the finger and blame individual players.

    According to Joe Katt, Chip Kelly wanted the USC job and made contact with Haden.

  12. I believe the most intriguing moment was when Haden met with Helton to offer the job as HC. There’s ‘Capper’ – stoic, eyes fixed on the latest ‘find’….a candidate whose wildest dreams are about to be realized. The offer is made with the stentorian cadence all patricians have honed by watching Laurence Olivier then the elixir of power flowing through the ‘Capper’ as he watches the latest stooge totally in his thrall.

    The meeting concludes….the ‘squire’ has now been raised to knighthood and sent to the stables to collect his ‘stuff’ to move into the ‘manse’ penthouse.

    Then the ‘Capper’ confirms with his soul mate JK and the repartee is the latter stroking the hair of the former telling him what a smart move that was. The ‘Capper’ rises from his oak desk looks JK in the eye and intones how hard he (Capper) has worked…no one can even begin to understand the stress this takes on a ‘committed’ soul such as he and then the reality sets in…..

    A cheap publicity stunt to deflect how truly I the ‘Capper’ has totally imploded USC’s football program but man the scratch I got is sweet and giving that $800k to JK was another sign I know how to staff a program or what? Now there’s my ‘due’ from that educational foundation – not much but I’ve been able to show ‘my’ magnanimous stripe there too by ‘helping’ my sister–in-law and daughter….am I something else or what?

    Can’t wait for September 3rd and that game with AL – 2016 is where and when everything comes together and I can totally focus on the Coliseum.
