Who’s Worse?

Notre Dame is 1-3. USC is 1-3. The last time each had three losses before October was 2001. And it’s only happened twice in 50 years. But the Irish have one thing going for them: A coach who has proven to be successful elsewhere and at Notre Dame.

  1. Stanford is having a tough time at the Rose Bowl and bel-air tech looks more than ready for an upset tonight – Mora can’t wait to get Helton.

    • UCLA at Rose Bowl will be a blood bath … at Washington maybe Bama part 2 BC Oregon will be ugly but gutties after this team quit Bloodbath

      • Yup – bluntly whatever it takes to flush all the post-Carroll assistants, lackeys, hangerons out is what needs to happen

  2. Where? Cincinnati? That’s where? The ‘Conference USA? Kelly is not a good coach – an average one who gets good recruits and yeah in fairness Helton isn’t even good.

  3. SC’s 3 losses: #1 Alabama (neutral), @ #7 Stanford, @ #24 Utah

ND’s 3 losses: @ Texas, #12 MSU (home), Duke (home)

One seems to be a little tougher than the other

  4. I was at the game last night in Salt Lake and the talent disparity between Utah and SC was astounding. How did SC lose this game? Coaching and arrogance. Aside from the three turnovers, which were killers, how in the hell can Justin Davis gain 126 yards and not touch the ball in the 4th quarter? Arrogance in the fact that Clancy refused to make adjustments in the 4th quarter and allowed the Utah QB to carve SC up. Teams are going to learn how to win or learn how to lose. It seems like both ND and SC are in the same boat despite their talent level. ND has the edge in coaching and they’ll be o.k.

    • Well yeah ‘the Princess’ has a very east schedule save for Stanford and ‘hopefully’ USC – USC does not have an easy schedule and Troy is coupled with a pathetic incompetent head coach while The Princess has an arrogant average one.

      • The thing that pisses me off about the college game is that it is not equitable. Everyone should play 12 games with at least five on the road. ND only has three true road games. They have three games at neutral sites.

        • Even more rigged is that ‘the Princess’ never has to play a CCG = everyone else does but not them – nah never them

  5. ND at 1-3 does take a little of the edge off what so far is an awful season, though Kelly doesnt create the level of resentment that Holtz and Weiss created, at least for me. Any loss for ND under those guys was a reason for a party.

    • Kelly has far more control of the team than any coach prior to his arrival and it shows with the thugs that are now standard on the Irish squad.

      Man UCLA looks good tonight!

  6. At 1-3, ND’s coach Kelly says “Every position is up for grabs.” At 1-3, Helton says “We are getting better.” Just pitiful Helton.

  7. Only Kelly will demote any player to 2nd or third string and not bat an eye doing it if that player screws up too much. Helton will mimic Mike Riley and swat the same player on the butt and say go get’em big guy. Helton wants to be liked. Kelly wants to win more than be liked.

    • Yeah well that ‘tough guy’; only works when you’re good at what you’re paid to do – coach. Kelly can’t coach – he gets incredible talent – doesn’t have to play in a conference, schedules patsies and no CCG – he’s not much good at anything except a slimmer version of Weis.

      • i agree if Helton comes down on these young prima donnas he will lose them. Helton needs to get ruthless in the game playcalling and opportunism.

      • His resume of building teams and not mooching off a great HC Kiffin like is much stronger than Chunkys

  8. Great Question – ND is worse, we’re improving (inches not yards) and they’re falling apart. If Helton handily beats ND and Cal State Westwood he should be given another year.

  9. First off, Brian Kelly is an overrated hot head just like Wil Muschamp, and coaches like that usually get exposed after a couple of years. So the Notre Dame situation doesn’t surprise me at all.

  10. My feeling in my gut says we have the same head coach in 2017 with perhaps some new staff. Swann will be behind the changes and attempt to build from there. If you look at the coaches possibly available and those who would want to come to USC right now, pickings would be very slim. Herman won’t come for sure.

    • No one new except someone who needs a job will come work for Gomer knowing he is gone soon … bad plan fire him now
