Cody Kessler Stats

kessler-ndA reader asked me what I thought about quarterback Cody Kessler’s NFL play: Kessler’s completed 49 of 73 passes for 467 yards with one touchown and one interception in his two starts for the Cleveland Browns. But USC fans can probably identify with the fact that despite the impressive completion percentage (67 percent), the Browns are 0-2 in those games. Kessler usually had trouble beating good teams during his USC career.

      • Hundley’s happy being a potential starter unlike that has been Kapernik and his ‘fame’ for playing the race card yet at the same time being a millionaire.

        • I truly doubt Hundley will be a 1st team starter. He lacks the IQ .. The X factor.. GB will push him off for a better talent within the next two-three years.

          • Maybe. If not he needs to go back and finish school… He can get a job as a $5 a hour troll blogger like 22 and JO.

          • A lot of players leave before they graduate – a lot. Jack Del Rio got his BA out of Univ. of KS when he was playing for the Chiefs. Hundley better do something for his skill set because few there be that invest and monitor their salaries very very few.

          • I handle many athletes and entertainment industry people through my company… Have a proven track record… Trusted.. After all .. 27 yrs in the industry.

          • Correction, CowPolyFan3.0 aka USC 55 aka T-Fail 3.0 is the lawn mower for the Vegas stars!

          • If they were smart, they would create faux troll accounts like Bucket and collect multiple paychecks.

          • Hundley’s not helping himself by not playing in games. That’s a QBs worst nightmare because that’s the only way to learn the game and improve. Bad luck for Hundley, almost as bad as dropping to round 5.

          • Then again he got talked into or chose to not book at the end of 2012 when the ‘iron was hot’ draft wise. he’d had a chance already on a much lower skilled team with a ‘GM’ fresh out of Wharton and barely 30. He didn’t he’s with the Packers and they don’t play fools.

          • He redshirted one and played three. I think he degreed. No reason for him to hang around the FaceCupper any longer. He got screwed by the draft because I think he and his agent tried to play around with the workouts/combines and it backfired.

      • Speaking about has been former bozo u QBs, Carson “Bomber” helps the Az Cardinal’s win a game – he fakes a concession and doesn’t play.

The “Bomber” gets a game ball.

  1. He’s a starter in the NFL though. WhIle you’re still stuck being a beat writer for a second rate paper

    • Go Cody baby! I never dreamed he’d be an NFL starter and not just holding a clipboard like Hundley will be for the next five years.

Maybe CK will somehow catch fire and become one of those odd success stories, though I wouldn’t bank on it.

      • Not so fast Jack. If Aaron Rogers and the Packer’s second stringer go down, Hundley will be called into action.

    • Yep. And he’s a ROOKIE on a notoriously bad football team. Sure, he wasn’t off the charts at USC, but he held it together. All the hope from me that Cody succeeds. Although it could be a steep mountain to climb.

  2. In case anyone is interested. The Browns were projected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL before their 1st and 2nd QB’s were injured. If you want to think (and I use that word loosely) that Cleveland is 0 & 2 because of Kessler ; have at it.

  3. Cleveland Brown passing yardage first 4 games; 190, 260, 244, 223. Cody holds his own. Both Miami and Washington games were on the road. Cody has the NE Patriots at home Oct 9. Beat the H@ll out of the PATs, Mr. Kessler !!!

  4. ”Kessler usually had trouble beating good teams during his USC career.”

Was that part of your answer or just a j%ck**s remark you added to the post?

That’s like being asked, “What do you think of S**tt W**f’s sports column?” And answering, “S**tt sounds like he’s g@ay when he talks.”

    It’s a totally senseless remark.

  5. Wolf you should be ashamed of your sorry self for writing this post !!!!!!!!! What is the point of ragging on Kessler after he has graduated and gone onto the Pros ??? – something very few college players ever do so already he is ahead of most. The Browns are terrible and Kessler has made them better not worse.

There is no point in demeaning this young man. Kessler was nothing but a credit to our university, our team and his family. He was an exemplary person with the highest conduct – something you would not understand so I get your jealously to want and “get” him wherever you can. Kessler did well despite the tumult of the USC football team during that period – multiple coaches, Haden’s regime, changing schemes, lack of depth – he caused none of those problems or caused the less than acceptable record of his time.

This content of this column is despicable by and to avoid message deletions I will leave it at that and not transfer it to you personally. I would formally complain to the Daily News about this and if I owned the blog you’g be fired immediately.

  6. Typical BS with SW. Good thing the readers don’t rate SW’s columns. What a D.

  7. How can anyone compare college QB Kessler with Pro QB Kessler. The Pro’s much different then college.

  8. I have watched every minute of both games. Cody did not miss 3 Field Goals that caused an Overtime Loss on the road. He has one interception on a throw that Pryor did not come back to well on a slant. He is doing a lot better than expected and doing well.

  9. Cody is in the arms of a beautiful Russian model collecting weekly paychecks in the double digits and fulfilling his dreams of playing in the NFL. Get a life Scott

  10. POS Wolf- why the whiny attitude towards Kessler? Have you even watched the Browns’ games that he has played? Their kicker missed a routine field goal one game that would have won it..he is doing his job, UNLIKE YOU. Unless your job is to b*ch and moan because of your petty jealousy..

Kessler might not have been the best QB in USC history, but for all the coaches and crap he had to deal with, he handled it well. That should count for something…Pathetic, taking shots at people from your mom’s basement while sitting in your boxers with a Euro league soccer “kit” on…

  11. Scott, you need to live Aloha. You’ll be less miserable and negative. You might even enjoy life.

  12. How sad. Kessler all by himself lost those games and Wolf just cannot get over it. I always thought it was a team game but now Wolf has it ALL on the QB’s shoulders. The Fact is, Kessler is playing decent ball and should he continue to play will get better and better and then the Browns win a few, based on how well the rest of the team plays. Back off of Kessler, he was always respectful and courteous to you Wolf.
