Clay Helton v. Ed Orgeron

LSU coach Ed Orgeron said at halftime of last week’s game against Missouri, “It’s all about the ball.” That sounds eerily similar to Clay Helton’s motto, “All about ball.” Gee, I wonder who came up with it first?

Orgeron also used his, “One Team, One Heartbeat, One Family” motto from 2013. Helton’s is “Faith, Family and Football.”

  1. Hmmmm, maybe this quote from 2011 could shed some light…

“If you know Pete Carroll’s defensive philosophy or just philosophy of football in general, you know that one of his catch phrases is “it’s all about the ball.” ”

How do you know so little about the one topic you write about?

  2. “I find most people hate to be informed. People need to be amused, shocked… or angered.” – Jim Murray. Sums up this blog perfectly. Where’s your Pulitzer, Scooter?

  3. Probably took it from Coach O. Only original thing Helton has done is punt instead of going for it in opposition territory.

  4. I can’t imagine Ed Orgeron taking anything from Clay Helton, other than the lunch he probably fetched for him …lol. You do realize one was an actual decision maker with the position he coached, and one was a figure head OC…right ?

    • He was too busy running around calling him immature names like Ceaser to notice that it came from Pete Carroll.

    • Yep. Coach O is also using Pete Carroll’s daily practice themes – Tell the truth Monday, competition Tuesday, etc….I heard him on the radio yesterday saying, “Today is No Repeat Thursday”.

    • It’s deep: What does it mean?
Like the shape of the ball or controlling the ball or being the ball?
Or is it “about” the ball like in the proximity of the ball?
Way too deep for me I guess.
By the way, if it’s way too deep for me, is it over my head?
      Isn’t that contradictory?

      • What is the sound of Hirsute Helen banging her head on the bozo u 100 yard practice field goal post.

  5. The real question is will we ever see Gomer rip off his shirt and do a screaming rowdy Wild Boy Show for his team and cameras. Does Gomer have any Orgeron Wild Boy genes? Do any of USC’s coaches have a Wild Boy act in their repertoire?

  6. This blog is in worse condition than USC football. Luckily for him there isn’t anyone available that wants Scott Wolf’s job.
