Pac-12 vs. SEC

USC, Pac-12 and West Coast fans love to complain (often rightly) about an SEC bias that exists nationally. But when were the SEC’s marquee teams as bad as the Pac-12’s this season? This is where some argue Pac-12 offenses are tougher to defend. Last weekend, Utah and Oregon combined for 142 yards passing.

  1. The first top 5 teams in the SEC would completely dominate the Pac 12, because they are full of finesse coaches that don’t emphasize line of scrimmage play. They rather throw the ball all over the place, and try to out score everyone, and hope they win by having the ball last. It’s a trend that started with , Chip Kelly up at Oregon, and everyone else in the conference wanted to follow him. And that’s why overall, the Pac 12 is weak.

The only people who give two hoots about Adoree Jackson, are the opponents he blew away in high school, because he hasn’t done anything in college for an opposing coach to fear him..lmao

The game is going to be closer then people think, and USC really has a chance to win.

If the Trojans loose to Stanford, then expect a spiral, roller-coaster type of season the rest of the way. If they win, then the questions will continue, and we still won’t know what we have.

    • I lived in Oregon during the Chip Kelly years, and knowledgeable Ducks fans were quick to point out that Kelly’s is a run oriented offense. In fact, during Kelly’s time at Oregon the team rushed for about 1000 more yards every year then they passed for. Now, it may not be the power running offense you crave but it’s a run-based not a pass-happy offense like other Pac 12 spreads.

      • Yeah, but he doesn’t know that. He just follows the dogma he picked up when coaches wore tube socks with the colored rings around them.

I have a gut feeling that Clay Helton is going to do well this season, because he keeps it simple, and understands line of scrimmage control. What he’s trying to do is not rocket science, it’s recruiting top talent , and coaching them up like a mature grown man would do, unlike the two previous coaches.

          • Fred took Helton at his word that USC was going to play smash mouth football. I remember when he realized he had been misled. For you, that is too much to understand.

          • Marv, do you not see he said he is relying on his gut feeling and not anything the coach said? This is another example of you being imprecise.

        • They were exposed as a finesse team when they played in the BCS and national playoff games.

On paper USC should win everything, but Clay Helton, and his staff are untested. So Stanford would be the safest pick to win it all, in my opinion.

    • Last 2 years of SEC bowls record is 15-7 and PAC 12 was 12-6. SEC is the biggest fraud in football with their 8 game conference schedule and cupcakes at home only. Keep drinking the Kool-Aid Fred.

      • I guess that whipping Alabama put on USC was drinking the Kool aid, huh? Isn’t SC suppose to be at least the second best team in the Pac 12? If Washington, or the Trojans played Tennessee ,LSU, or Arkansas, then they would still get a beat down.

        • Tennessee beat Appalachian State and Ohio by less than 10 points each at home. What a huge power. LSU played Wisconsin and lost and look unimpressive against Jacksonville State and Southern Miss at home. Arkansas beat Louisiana Tech by 1 point at home. Again SEC knows how to schedule and create the myth. USC would beat any of those 3 teams. Alabama is in a class all of their own and deserves all of the props they get.

  2. Oregon didn’t play last weekend… Tough to rack up passing yards on the couch there genius…

  3. For all the trolls out there – Im rooting for the bRuins this weekend against the Utes – don’t let us down! We need the Utes to lose a couple

  4. So far, the SEC is 29-8 in nonconference play and the PAC 12 is 24-10. Close, and who had the toughest nonconference schedule? The SEC seems to play a lot more cupcakes than the PAC 12. There is a lot of parity in the PAC 12 with Oregon and Stanford slipping and Washington and SC coming back. Comparing conference’s bowl records is tough cause you never know what team is coming to play. A true 8 team playoff is the only way to judge the strength of conferences.

  5. Tweet of the Night:

USC quarterback Sam Darnold is leading the nation with a 91.3 QBR, ahead of Lamar Jackson (90.9) and Jake Browning (89.7).

  6. No true Trojan fan roots for conference or the Pac-12.

The only reason rooting for conference became “important” to some was because of 2003. Some thought USC and LSU should have played each other in the BCS game (eventually Oklahoma and LSU). LSU and USC started trash talking. USC inevitably brought up all of their multiple national title, Heismans and All-Americans. LSU had nothing comparable to USC, so they resorted to saying their conference is better and by saying the Pac-12 sucks.

Conference cheerleading is only for programs that don’t have the history of USC, Bama, Texas, Ohio State, Miami, etc. LSU won 1 national title and 1 Heisman before 2003 so rooting for conference is the only way they could have made themselves relevant.
