Ed Orgeron is 3-0 as LSU’s interim coach. And maybe he should be given who the Tigers played. But during Steve Sarkisian’s introductory press conference at USC, I remember asking Pat Haden about bypassing Orgeron.
“I hope he proves me wrong,” Haden said.
I would say that much is evident after three games.
Gee Pat any idea when you’ll give another us one of your ‘I’m Tom Brokaw and this is an ‘American Moment.’ ” insight into philandering?
That had to be the sweetest con ever – a cool $2.5 mil from USC and then another 70K to pay for your one hour per month of your ‘fiduciary’ obligation to that foundation…..best was using the foundation to keep your sister-in-law and daughter from moving back in huh?
When it comes to corruption, Pat couldn’t carry Hillary’s jock strap.
And Nixon couldn’t carry Hillary’s
Yeah but Wooden could a’
Haden was never going to hire Orgeron, Ed O is not country Club material.
You mean not LA Country Club material.
I played there twice. Playboy mansion is off one of the tees
And that junkie Snark was lol
To be fair, anyone really familiar with how Orgeron managed the Ole Miss job would have to be insane to hire him as a permanent HC. The stuff he pulled was beyond backwater and stupid – even for Deliverance-types.
He may do well at LSU and get the job. I hope he does. He’s very personable and hard-working. Makes a mean plate of gumbo as his mother taught him.
But he was one of the worst HCs in the history of SEC football at Ole Miss and he needed a ton of maturing to get to where he is now. Even when he was at USC during round 2, he still had a real problem with handling his temper with adults. It wasn’t just Haden he had to overcome. Hardly.
Obviously, he would have been better than the Drunk, like anyone else. But I’d have taken Petersen or Del Rio (would have accepted the job whereas Petersen turned it down), just to name two, in a heartbeat over Ed O. He still hasn’t beat anyone yet. Ole Miss has already lost 4 games and even lost to ARK who just got humiliated 56-3 by AUB.
Ed O isn’t out of the woods by a longshot, especially if he loses to ALA, A&M and UF. But regardless of his talent or qualifications as a coach, he’s obviously a better fit in Louisiana, period.
You are so wrong about Coach O. He would have been the perfect fit at SC. Time will prove me right.
Let’s see if he can beat anyone who’s any good. So far, he hasn’t. And if he does, that means he’s right for LSU, not USC. He would admit as much privately.
They announcers spoke on that LSU game last night about how Ed realized his mistakes and grew as a coach. Too bad Kiffin and Sark didn’t have that humble attitude.
Suck Kiffin are trying to make their alimony payments
He has a bye this week but in the next 3 weeks he’s facing AL and FL at Baton Rouge – wins those two and look out….
what if he wins one and loses one?
Better the former than the latter – the former (AL) he’s the hero of ‘Bayou’ as well as the rest of the SEC – he’s back next year no matter what.
The best thing Mike Rae’s caddy did as athletic director was leave.
Hey sas, go over and check out the morgue I mean ruin blog!
And I’ve noticed no J Metaphor, Safer in Westwood, ucla Dynasty, etc. They’re all MIA.
They actually believed the ruin preseason hype…suckers!
Most people knew the Bruins were in trouble if Rosen went down, but I have to admit that their running game only averaging 29 yards in those 3 games is a surprise. I thought Polamalu would have them on the right path by now. Looks like I was wrong.
I don’t know about other Bruins fans, but upon looking at our schedule at the beginning of the season, I thought we’d lose at least 4-5 games with the new system Mora is (still) instituting, with several solid players gone, with CKP as an unproven OC, and with our continued O line issues. Even with all of that said, I’ll admit I never thought our run game would suck as much as it does. As bad as Faufal was in his first start, yesterday he showed that he can ball and he’s got heart…if he can only make wiser decisions as he gets more playing experience.
From the way the Bruins played in College Station and to how they played Stanford tough they’ve hit a wall. With or without Rosen the defense has taken a step back, but the rushing attack has totally been abandoned. 6 attempts by Faufal only 1 from a Bruin running back in the second half. Polamalu has as much to blame as Mora in my opinion. And when the TE is the leading receiver by far something is not right at all.
Here’s the stat that caught my eye in the Utah loss: our defense was on the field approximately 40 minutes. Defensive exhaustion set in towards the end, making for costly mistakes and big Utah plays. It all goes back to having a shoddy O line and no run game to speak of. The coaches admitted that they would focus on the pass game against Utah, for better or worse.
You give the opponent lots of time and chances when you throw the ball 70 times and leave plenty of minutes for them to counter. There were like 6 TD’S in the first quarter alone if memory serves me right. Asking a backup QB to throw that much just shows how incompetent Polamalu or Mora can be. UCLA’S running game really isn’t that bad it’s just that Mora and Polamalu are too impatient to see it get going.
The only thing Pola has done in his career is punch Kiffin … no one would think he would a a good OC
His tough guy attitude has fooled many.
Isn’t life great?
I kind of miss the little buggers. Just kidding.
Did Dan Guerrero run off the Bruin on the sideline with the white hair that was always waving his towel around? What happened to him?
Fresno State fired its HC and several membets of his staff this morning!
Will Lane Kiffin go home? JK. This is Helton’s opportunity to get his feet wet LOL!
Kiffin is mentioned as a possible replacement.. Just in time for the USC – Fresno game next year.
He’d be a fool to leave Alabama for Fresno St. He will get an SEC job soon. And I don’t want to ever see him in the Coliseum ever again.
Im sure he will refer Sark! Lol
That wouldn’t surprise me.
Have you seen the ruin site?
SEC job lol … we will know the dumbest AD in America if Goat is ever hired
We are talking about people in Kentucky and swamps. It’s gonna happen.
Perfect example of how athletic directors look for the dumbest things when selecting a head football coach. Ed Orgeron lost to UCLA, and isn’t polished socially enough for Pat Haden’s standards , allegedly. But since when does that win you football game? Orgeron is an incredible recruiter, and has leadership skills, and could have surrounded himself with top assistants, and coordinator’s. But when your an Idiot, buffoon athletic director like Haden, then you usually don’t realize things like that.
I can assure you the one person that was saddest to see Ed go was Mora.
Hey Alvarado.. 1974 at NDSO has a Alvarado listed with many school football records still untouched today .. Any relation ?
Nah – gone 6+yrs. thanks and anyway – baseball
Here is all you need to know about the Capper. He sabotaged the team and Coach O before the UCLA game by leaking it that Coach O wouldn’t get the job. Then he bypassed Peterson and hired the drunk. Who does this, aside from a egomaniacal scumbag who defrauds a non profit?
He needs to give that scholarship money back that he and his daughter in law took.
Well said!
Haden being a lazy lush didn’t help
He had the power to make USC football relevant again, but because he’s a wimpy, gutless little Dweeb, along with being lazy. The program was st back 5 years.
I thought that Ed O. did some great things. I liked when he brought outsiders to speak to the players after team meetings, and he did a very good job of assessing his roster, and gearing his strategies to that underlying reality.
That eluded his predecessor and successor.
Still, I would have been OK with not hiring Orgeron, IFF Haden had found a superior candidate. Peterson would have been fine with me. Chip Kelly would have been fine (FOR ME, AT LEAST). Or the “not-for-real names” from the post-Sark hire, John Harbaugh or Sean Payton.
It was not so much rejecting Orgeron, it was rejecting him for Sark. And it was also not allowing Orgeron the courtesy of a full presentation of his plan, after all that Ed had done at and for USC. That showed zero class, even at a country club.
Quote from Ed O
“I made a mistake last time I was a head coach, I’m gonna treat my players like they are my sons”
I’m happy for CEO.
Is he even practicing?
Doubt it!
What a disaster.
As I recall according to readers herein coach O was not ready for the big show and of course coach O didn’t prove Haden wrong Sarkisian did.
So only time will tell if coach O is the real deal, but he has more time as a head coach than our current coach. And don’t forget he said he’d learned from his mistakes, I will take him at his word right now.
Watching LSU is like watching the 2006-2007 Trojans with Booty. Great athletes all around and a steady but not great QB. Hope Coach O runs the Table.
