Morning Buzz: Ed Orgeron Gives True Feelings On USC Job

orgeron-lsu-2I’ve often said Ed Orgeron was a blue-collar type and Pat Haden wanted a white-collar coach at USC. So this quote interested me from Orgeron on the Russillo and Kanell show:

“Maybe I’m not the country club guy they wanted. But to hell with them.”

  1. Can’t say I blame him. Coach O was not treated the way he should have been. Haden is a class A spineless P R I C K.

  2. I hope that comment made him feel good about himself. He had an awful lot of goodwill at USC. Regimes change at USC. Slowly, but they change. Not to mention that other schools’ administrations take note of comments like that. Maybe he’s not smart enough to be the guy after all.

  3. Ed is right…he didn’t drink enough at the Club. I doubt Haden would have wanted Pete Carroll or Jim Harbaugh either

  4. I have heard Coach O a few times in the last week and his excitement for LSU is real & true. His excitement for USC was as well; but there is no where like home. His to Hell with them is squarely pointed at Pat Haden ; not the fans or players

  5. Sounds like Ed is setting himself up for another letdown when he doesn’t get the LSU job. Quitting on the team before a Bowl game… burning bridges with your past teams… doesn’t sound like a leader to me.

    • Ed Orgeron has more leadership skills in one finger, then Lane Kiffen, Steve Sarkisian, and Clay Helton all rolled together. …Trust! And if he wins out the rest of the season , I guarantee he will get that job. And I know there’s no such thing as a moral victory, but no other team played Alabama tougher then LSU .

      • You said there’s no such thing as a moral victory, then you say LSU won a moral victory.

LSU couldn’t score 1 single point on ALA and in the second half the Tiger offense was non-existent. This was LSU’s game of the year and in the end, ALA won easily. That’s what I saw on TV.

Under Ed O, LSU hasn’t won one single tough game. If he doesn’t start doing that, he can kiss that LSU job goodbye. With a RB like Fournette and overall talent that LSU has, he should win out for sure.

You always criticize Gomer for not winning any tough competition games. Yet you give Ed O a complete free pass there. He couldn’t beat ND and ucla at USC and he couldn’t beat ALA at LSU. At OLE MISS, he was probably the worst HC in all of college football.

        • Yep, that’s what I believe , Ed Orgeron is no magician, and you can’t score points against the # 1 defense in college football when you have no quarterback. And I don’t care If Jesus Christ is running the ball, he’s still not going anywhere when Alabama stacks that Box. So C’mon, Jack, give my Boy Orgeron some credit …lol

          • lol is right. Ed O hasn’t won a big game in his ENTIRE career and you think he’s the greatest. I’m all for Ed O, just not at SC. I know him personally very well actually and he’s a nice guy with a wonderful, personable wife.

But he’s never been anything special as a HC and he never will be. If he were to play WIS and AUB again, he’d lose both those games today just like he did to ALA.

He says classless, inflammatory things about his former employer because he’s a good ole boy redneck with a temper. Always has been. I certainly wouldn’t mess with him.

But I’d take Gomer over Ed O any day of the week. At least Gomer knows when to keep his trap shut.

          • Beating #5 Stanford on national TV on a Saturday night wasn’t a big game? All those thousands of SC fans that rushed the field sure thought so.

          • If Clay Helton was fired today, I guarantee no other Div I program would hire him as a head coach, or coordinator. So you go ahead and take Clay Helton, and keeping you’re mouth shut has zero to do with coaching ability. That’s the problem with athletic director’s today, they look for the wrong things when hiring coaches.

          • I never said Gomer was my choice for HC. I said I’m glad Ed O isn’t.

In the meantime, you must think he’s some great leader because he feeds cookies to his OL and rips off his shirt chanting “Wild Boys.” He hasn’t done anything else, but you conveniently overlook that.

I hope he gets the LSU job. I’m sure some other SEC coaches hope so as well, since he’s never done one thing as an SEC coach to suggest he’s a threat there.

          • USC gave up 42 more points to Alabama than LSU but that doesn’t matter to the brainless rah rahs who still are rationalizing Pat Haden’s hiring of the drunken Sark over Coach O.

      • If you think Helen’s politics are Leftist that shows you either haven’t read her posts or you’ve never seen the Rachel Maddow show — or maybe you’re so far to the Right that anyone who believes in facts is a commie! I look forward to your pea-brained reply. Use spell-check, it will help.

        • You mean the “facts” the Dr. Rachel Maddow of Inside USC posted about Bryce Dixon returning to the team in August 2015? I loved watching the real Maddow melt down on national television Tuesday night as I am sure you did, Sportslib Jerk. I especially enjoy the misery of condescending libs like you.

  6. The celebs and others can protest all they want and until the cows come home. It will be a long 8 years for them and probably 8 more years after that.

    • Just wait until Trump packs the Supreme Court with young conservatives, HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, they might all do a Jim Jones, one can hope !

    • Trump will be forced out of office in two years with all his lawsuits filed against him. No way does he get re-elected your troll. He lost the popular vote fryer ‘uck or do you even
      read.

      • You poor lib. You all predicted Hillary would be president now but you haven’t learned a thing about making predictions. You are no Nostradmos, Steve The Lib. I love how you libs have suddenly decided the constitutional way of electing a president in America is now evil.

  7. I still can’t believe Pat Haden hired that Phony CLOWN, over Ed Orgeron, which makes me wonder, who really had the drinking problem, Steve Sarkisian, or Haden ? Hmmmmm

  8. Antonio Villaragosa has announced his candidacy for governor in 2018. This is great news. Now all the crap he’s pulled will be out in the open for everyone to see. My money says that Bruin Rob will be involved in the “campaign” in some way, shape, or form.

      • You are a total jerk . Where are you headed go troy 22 to hopefully another state soon? Tell me what low life area you reside in when spewing this crap?

        • Oh no. I left you out on the list of preachy libs. So sorry Steve the Lib. When are you headed to Canada and a safe space where nary a microaggression is heard? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Typical Ed. It’s statements like “To Hell with USC.” are exactly why he wasn’t fit for the USC job.

You don’t have to be a country club-type to know that comments like that never help you when you’re always one step away from being unemployed in the coaching biz.

And even though USC is trying to survive with an inexperienced first year coach, the Play-Off Committee still likes the Trojans more than the Orgeron’s Tigers. And if Orgeron loses another big game, his chances of landing the LSU job become very shaky.

Ed loves to shoot his mouth off. It’s one of his true charms. But USC has been largely responsible for any success he’s had in coaching and when he flopped at OLE MISS, it was USC which re-ignited his college career.

In the end, it’s a harmless, throw-away comment, making it all the more stupid for Ed to say. One thing’s for sure. We don’t have a HC now who would ever even consider talking trash like Ed O. Good.

  10. Ed O almost certainly got hosed by PH & now has a golden opportunity at LSU. It is equally true that his record is not without flaws & him getting the full time gig at LSU is not a slam dunk. Not every AD & school president is an idiot and to date none of them have offered Ed a full time gig. There is a lot to being a HC, (above & beyond coaching) at any D1 school, let alone programs as big as LSU & USC. If Ed does not get the LSU job, it will not be because he wasn’t given a fair shot. I like the guy and suspect if I were a player, I would love to play for him. I am rooting for him to get the job.

  11. I love Ed but he will always be bitter and that’s always gonna be the last look we’ll remember from him.

      • Maybe. But he was embarrassed by UCLA and lost to Notre Dame. End of story. Couldn’t beat the rivals. And those were Big Games.

        • He lost to ND two games after the head coach was fired on the tarmac at 3 in the morning. Surely you don’t think that was a fair assessment of his coaching?

          • He was upset. I get that. But he rubbed me the wrong way when he ran out the parking lot and decided not to address his players for the final time and/or coach them in the bowl game.

          • Ed ran around telling anyone who would listen that it “was all about the team” over and over.

Then ucla humiliated USC on the field, Ed O quit the team and suddenly it was all about him, not the team anymore. His apologists always overlook this. He ran away to lick his wounds and hopefully to never run away again. I’m sure he’d never pull that trick again, least of all to LSU, his new favorite school.

        • Hey Sam, couple of things about those two games. First, Bread I missed two field goals at ND. Second, Haden sabotaged Coach O and the team by telling everyone that he would not get the job. Add to the fact that USC lost two offensive lineman in the same series when they had the game under control.

    • Hopefully, we’ll play them this year in a bowl. Would be a fantastic match-up.

Both teams already have three losses and are likely to lose one more, based on the Vegas odds.

If Ed O doesn’t get the LSU job he won’t walk off the job like he did at USC, so he’d still be coach for the bowl. Everyone would watch that one!

  12. Good for you Big O. Tell it like it is. Wouldn’t it be crazy if someday in the near future LSU(coached by Orgerin) was playing Washington(coached by Peterson) for the national championship…….two guys who we could have had as our coach but Max and the BOT’s didn’t like because they wanted an extra golf partner at their country club.

      • It will be interesting to see if he gets the LSU job and how he does. I think that his time has come. I think that he will do well. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him challenging for the national title in the future.

  13. Sounds like a dude who got dumped by a girl and then called her a b and said he never liked her anyway.

  14. Petersen is negotiating a 10-year K extension with the Huskies. Good for the Pac-12 to keep great coaches here and attract some better ones too.

  15. If Orgeron could’ve controlled his emotions, he’d probably be the head coach at USC right now. He screwed himself out of the USC job as far as I’m concerned. Right back at him with regards to his latest comments.

  16. If Haden wasn’t such a chickensh*t and had actually pursued a top CFB head coach, I doubt Coach O would of been this bitter. Instead, Haden hired the drunk from the South Bay Class-Ass-Clown Country Club.
