USC Morning Buzz: It’s Game Day Featuring GameDay In Seattle

corso-uscESPN analyst Lee Corso is 21-0 when picking the winner of USC games on GameDay. He is 16-0 when he took USC and 5-0 when he picked against the Trojans.

How defining a moment is today’s game for Clay Helton’s vision of USC? He doesn’t have much pressure as an underdog but this is a winnable game. It ain’t Alabama the Trojans play today. You cannot squander Adoree Jackson and JuJu Smith-Schuster much longer if they are going pro. And you’ve got the phenom at QB. So let’s not hear any excuses tonight from anyone. USC has the talent. Now it needs to deliver in a big-time game.

  1. Trojans are overall healthy. Team seems to be playing good football. Offense is scoring, defense is stopping. No excuses, just go win.

  2. What an opportunity this game is for Helton to start quieting his critics — including myself — that he’s not good enough to be the head coach of USC! And what a great chance it is for Darnold to pave his future career with one of his many signature wins! And finally, what a huge turning point this game could be for SC football if it could finish the season by winning out all the remaining games, including the bowl game!

  3. If this game was at home i think we would win. If you have been to new Husky stadium iits a difficult place to play, especially with the huskies on a roll. People forget Browning set all kinds of records as Gatorade HS player of the year.

    • You’re a little gutty fan. Fortunately for you, the bruins aren’t playing the Huskies in Seattle or America would just skip the game.

You picked USC to lose 45-20. So you think the UW home advantage is worth more than 25 points?

Go little gutties. Lose yet again to the Beavs.

  4. Well, that was quick & predictable. First SW picks USC to lose, and then a day or two later he states they should win. He clearly thinks UW should win, as does every other prognosticator. So, even after stating USC will lose, he gives himself cover by stating they should win. Positioning himself perfectly to tells us he was right if USC loses & also blast that them for losing a game they should have won. If USC wins he can say , they should have won and he told us so. I think UW will win , because they are a more well rounded team; but I do think USC can win if they finally play a clean game. Should be fun.

    • I could not have said it better myself. If USC loses, will Scott talk about Darnold not having any signature wins?

    • Clean in the PAC 12 is in the eye of the beholder. No other conference has the officiating woes of the PAC 12 and does so little to correct it. Sadly, PAC 12 games would be better if there were no officials and the players called their own penalties.

      • I was switching between an SEC game & a PAC 12 game last week. On at least 3 occasions I saw the right tackle in the PAC12 game get called for holding & saw the exact play by the SEC tackle result in a no call. In fact , on one play they ran a replay & talked about how good the SEC tackle was. Pass interference officiating is equally horrendous in the PAC12. There isn’t a single PAC12 fan base that thinks the officiating is any good .

    • Yep – classic Wolf. Setting the table to bag on SC for losing a game 95%of the nation would lose.

    • It’s been obvious to me for weeks that USC will win this game going away. With that being said, I pick the Huskies.

  5. Gomer has gained some confidence beating these bad teams but this is different … loud road game, tough talented motivated team … can Gomer’s team play a full game without multiple breakdowns
    Doubtful … almost impossible
Huskies just keep pressure on all day … 51-21 Huskies

    • It’s SC’s Achilles’s Heal, playing. disciplined football team. No room for mistakes, I don’t see that kind of performance coming from the Trojans quite yet. So far, SC has overcome their mistakes against bad teams.

  6. This game is like a Mid-Term Exam for Helton. Final Grade to be given after the Rivalry Games and Bowl.

  7. This is a winnable game per SW. Aren’t they all? It would be an upset if they won but I am hoping they do.

  8. This is the game to establish the run game to eat up the clock and keep the defense off the field. We have a chance if we keep it a low scoring game

  9. Will be tough for USC to overcome their penalty/turnover problems against such a well-coached, motivated and talented Husky team with the home advantage and a Playoff slot in sight. Most every expert picks a UW victory, though many think USC will beat the 7.5-8 pt spread.

All I can say is Fight On and shock the world! With Darnold anything is possible. Hope the coaches go all out and come up with some tricks of their own. Will be a terrific game. Break the Corso streak!

    • It will be an exciting game for sure Jack. I think you have a lot more faith in the “experts” than I do. 8 oclock tonight we will know for sure.

      • I just remember when those same experts used to pick SC all the time and we won, just like they predicted. It’s time for SC to get back in the national picture. Now we’ll see if we’re really ready.

    • Luckily nobody cares about Washington or USC. I don’t think the world could take another shock after the one on Tuesday.

  10. This is Darnold’s crowning moment, it’s right in front of him and he’s gonna take it

It’s the year of upsets, Corso

  11. If the game were played in week 3 of the season I’d be listening sorta on a radio. But since the team has rebounded, and I don’t care what you think of the other teams, I will watch it on TV.
The only question I have is should I hold on if we get down by 3 or more touchdowns in the 3rd quarter? (But you already know I will)

  12. I never want to wish injury on a kid, but short of that, I wouldn’t mind seeing Browning in consultations with the training staff early and often today. We need the best game of the year out of our D-line and Clancy has to get into Browning’s head with regard to his comfort level and what he’s seeing when he looks out at the defense.

This kid really hasn’t been introduced to big time college football and Washington is too far removed from it to remember what it’s like. It’s time to show Browning and remind U-Dub what big time and big boy college football is like and let them know they aren’t ready for it.

It is our duty to police our own house and expose the pretenders within so that they don’t embarrass the conference on the national stage. U-dub is on track, but they’re not ready for the things they are dreaming of this year. In the years to come these 2 schools more than any other 2 schools will determine the direction of the conference. Today we show U-dub 2 things: that they are not ready for the CFP this year and the conference is ours next year. After all that’s happened, it’s still our destiny to be the program of record in the PAC 12 and the western United States. Show them that.
