USC-UCLA QB Flip Flop

rosen-uscImagine how different the point spread would be Saturday if the quarterback matchup was Josh Rosen vs. Max Browne?

  1. We would see the battle of two struggling teams and Larry Scott would probably move the game to a 10pm kickoff.

  2. Rosen’s always been over-rated and now he’s a non-entity. SC slapped him around bad before ASU sent him to the hospital this season.

L.A. belongs to Darnold, who would beat out both Goff (soon to be an official disaster) and Rosen head-to-head.

It’s a QB driven sport and Darnold is one great driver.

    • Rosen had trouble against USC in the middle of a HC firing and was also having trouble this season.
I don’t think ucla would be favored if Browne and Rosen were the starting QBs.

    • Even better where would the odds be if Osa was still a leading bozo u team member. His theme song is “Gentle on my wiman.”

      • Just curious – do you need a backhoe to dig that deep to find things to feel good about?

    • Thank you. Somebody who understands my “Wolf pain,” over endless Max Browne references and drivel…

    • But the defense wouldn’t be playing like it is today without Darnold as the QB. He changed the whole team and the mental outlook of the players. I would say that Darnold even changed the mental outlook of the coaches, especially Tee Martin.

Browne never looked the part even when he was in the game. Sorry, but IMHO, he just didn’t have it and this will be proven in a more concrete sense at wherever he transfers.

      • I hear ya but I don’t buy the hype of the “Darnold Effect” on the defense playing better. The team has more confidence than earlier in the season when the defense was less physical and making many mental mistakes. I don’t think Darnold has impacted these areas but rather the defense has finally learned the Pendergast system and is now playing at full speed.

Whatever the reasons are, I’ll just sit back and enjoy watching USC football again no matter wether the offense or defense is on the field.

    • With due respect, no, he would not. He is late with his decision making. He throws the ball only when the receiver is wide open or has made his cut. He does not trust himself nor has the self confidence that the receiver will be there to catch the ball.

  3. Imagine how different things would be if the sky was purple and water wasn’t wet.

  4. If my memory serves me right, I think we did just fine against the same R(n)osen last year with Kessler. Plus the resurgence of this USC defense? No way.

    • Kessler put Rosen to shame. I’m really sad we won’t get to face plant Rosen again on Saturday. We’ll have to wait until 2017 to give him the taste of Coliseum grass again.

  5. Max Browne competed at full tilt and gave it his all. Unfortunately, for him , he came up short. No disgrace in an athlete getting beat out if he gives it all. By all accounts Sam did just that. Even without the stats & victories Max is still a successful Trojan. A man of character and integrity.

  6. Not sure about the QB question, but the Point Spread if Neuheisel was still coaching would be USC – 49.5.

  7. Wolfie, With his team hitting on all cylinders, Max Brown/USC 34 UCLA 14 come Saturday. Rosen is out for the season. PLAYED POORLY in last years game. With protection, Max was exceptional against USU. Max never got his chance. Utah falls if Max Browne is given 4 quarters ? It’s possible. We will never know, will we ?

  8. Wow Wolfie! Imagine how much different the point spread would be if Fink were QB. Or, what if Cravens didn’t go out early? You got Browne on the brain. Therapy, please…as much as for the readers as for you…

  9. Seriously, I’m in the minority ( not a good place to be in the new Amerika) on UCLA sites but Rosen is coddled and gets away with a bunch of bonehead plays. The coaches don’t hold him accountable and he’s not being pushed to develop.

    • Dynasty, there is no one to push Rosen. When he is under pressure, Rosen falls apart. He is fine when he has time. Falful (sp) is doing a decent job, but in my opinion, he is a back up qb. Your coach has to recruit a five star qb this year to push Rosen for the job and maybe replace him. I agree that the coaches do not hold him accountable and that leaves a lot to desire for the players and for the team.

  10. It does not matter if Rosen would have played. Their swiss cheese offensive line would allow a beating to take place on Rosen. The USC’s defense would hurt him. That is why I am wondering who the back up is to Falful, because he will receive the same results that, “Deer in the Headlights Rosen” would have received.
