Notre Dame must vacate victories in the 2012 and 2013 football seasons because of NCAA violations by a student-trainer. That means it vacates two victories over USC. That does not mean the games do not count as USC losses. It just means for the official NCAA records, the Irish have two less victories over USC now. USC had to do the same thing when it suffered NCAA sanctions.
I’m sure some USC fans are smirking abou the Irish sanctions, still upset about Notre Dame administrator Missy Conboy’s role on the NCAA committee on infractions for the USC case.
“The Gold Standard of College Football” – Pat Haden 2016
I read that, Brian Kelly is pursuing the LSU job
That means Notre Dame is open for Kiffin or Sark !!!!
They deserve Goatboy or the Fireball. lol
There’s too much media scrutiny at ND for Kiffin and Sark needs to pay his dues first as an assistant before taking a head coaching position (ala Kiffin).
I was joking…..
I think Kiffin will probably be considered for any new head coaching positions opening up. Not saying he will be good, but in most minds he’s earned the opportunity.
If Orgeron stayed at LSU, then that would be a powerful combination.
That would be like hiring Will Muschamp. Almost.
Or you Mr. Kneepads
You really gonna call me what I started calling you first???
I just flag every comment you make
That hurts.
Use more lube
That’s what she said.
And leave ND with all that money he is owed ? LSU finally gets rid of that brain dead moron Miles and now they want to take another step back with Pop Tart ?
I don’t believe that Kelly is really looking to get out of South Bend. Do you? Really?
And if you were LSU, would you hire Kelly? No way. Just not good enough, period.
Brian Kelly has problems getting talent into Notre Dame, but I don’t know if that’s the issues as to why he can’t get it going. And no, he would’t be my first choice at LSU, because they can probably do better. And Les Miles made it perfectly clear to the administration at Purdue, that if they don’t waive academic requirements for players on the football team, he’s not accepting the job if offered.
PUR is a graveyard job. Nobody can win there. If Miles has to take that, nobody else wants him.
Joe Tiller did ok there, took them to the Rose bowl one year
ND isn’t LSU when it comes to admission standards, an X on the dotted line will suffice for admission to LSU
Brian Kelly should stick to the Big East Conference… or make a triumphant return to Grand Valley State ;0
A decisive win by the Trojans will be Kelly’s final nail.
I like it that way
You IE loser, you want to keep Kelly, he’s like Mora, a loser
No Dong lover. I like the bad guy role. Don’t you have a Jerry Lewis telethon to get to?
Flagged
I sense a pattern to sas’s comments. Very West Hollywood.
He whined to the board monitor and got me banned, typical liberal .
And yeah, Mr Kneepads does seem to swing that way
Too good to be true, especially after all this other good fortune we’ve had lately.
So the student trainer did the course work for two players?
What comes around, goes around. But with the NCAA ND gets a gentle slap. Not surprised.
ND is the Golden Boy while USC was the Renegade.
Smirk On!
I would love to see Kiffin get the ND job———-just to see this blog blow up.
He would be a dummy not to try to get it, at least interview for it.
He’s not catholic, so there’s that…
I have learned to never say never. But Lane Kiffin will become the HC at ND when pigs fly. There is no way that ND will take anyone with anything close to the amount of baggage that Lane Kiffin has. ND thinks far too much of itself to bring on someone as “sketchy” as Lane Kiffin.
What I don’t understand is the $5,000 fine. Really?
That’s probably what the NCAA spends on toilet paper each year… gotta balance the budget, don’tcha’ know…
The NCAA is a corrupt organization. It’s right up there with Obama’s Justice Department and the IRS. I hope McNair wins big and people begin to see through the corrupt people who run the NCAA. They still don’t see it because many of the mainline sportswriters haven’t covered this story fairly. They protect the cronies.
Can we please stop evoking political bias when talking college football? Get over yourself.
I’ll TRY but in this day and age where we have all the whacko’s out there who are trying to pass legislation that say that a man has a right to go into a womans bathroom or a womans locker room or even shower with the women just because today he happens to thinks he’s a woman, IT’S ROUGH. Do you get my drift. I’ll stop with that because we certainly don’t want to have any micro-aggressions on this forum. I certainly wouldn’t want to cause somebody to have a nervous breakdown while reading my politically incorrect comments.
You’re a very troubled soul. Good luck with that.
Yeah….I must be. When a person starts coming up with crazy ideas like men should stay out of womens bathrooms and locker rooms, he really is ready for the funny farm.
I have an easy solution for you and your troubled mind: ZIP it.
“Troubled mind”…..a very vague statements. Let’s have some specifics. As far as “zipping it” is concerned. Sorry about that. But I have an excuse. I didn’t realize that I had to come to you to get permission to say something.
The government is/has been/and always will be corrupt. Obama, Nixon, Bush, Bush, Clinton. They all operate the same. So no reason to distinguish Obama’s justice dept or Bush’s everything department or Clintons anything department.
You’re right. The bigger the government gets, the more chance for corruption. But not like Obama and the Clintons. They were in a league by themselves.
Who cares what the effete NCAA has to say about anything?! They abused their authority and displayed incompetence with their sanctions against SC. Since then, they’ve sidestepped several other violations that were equal in magnitude. USC should NEVER reduce its number of wins, NCs and Heismans just because the NCAA has. FRACK them! And Notre Dame should too…
Well vacating victories is stupid you can’t unring a bell. There must be a better way. For instance academic fraud should be cause to vacate an earned degree, but it really doesn’t amount to cheating on the field.
Maybe fine the school and fire the offender but leave the record alone.
Sanctions don’t really mean anything without scholarship reductions.
So we go 1 and -2 in one weekend. YES!!! That’s as close to a Triple play as you can get in football other than another perfect Saturday last weekend. I didn’t think we’d have another one of those for years, the way the season started.
The ncaa will quietly resend the order. nd is their golden child. The ncaa sucks……
