  1. Amazing game SC just cruising up 24-6 .. missed EP, then missed chippy FG, rare end zone pick of McDonald … SC begins to sub
    But then
Montana gets hot , SC gets beat deep twice and and suddenly behind ! big stop on 2pt conversion. 38 seconds left
Favorable call on McDonald inc/fumble … under new rule it was incomplete pass. Big throw to Sweeney , good run by White giving up yards to get to right hash ( Robo kept 2 TOS)!
    Jordan nailed it !

  2. Off topinc– I saw a nice article about this years SC Senior class by Joey Kaufmann in the OC Register.

  3. Mike Norvell ( former OC Ariz. St. ) 48-Tom Herman ( Former OC Ohio St. ) 44…..Im glad USC kept Coach Helton….Fight On!

  4. Paul McDonald brought the team back after an incredible comeback by Montana.

That game gave SC a piece of the National Championship, so it was big. Very big.

    • isn’t 1978 the year we BEAT ALABAMA but had the share the National Championship due to a 20-3 loss at Arizona State, a game where we had to throw in a replacement center who knew noting of the position. Word has it that Paul McDonald spent umpteen hours the following week teaching the new hand the center position, after which time the new center kicked all incoming A@@ winning out the remainder of the 1978 season. TAKE THE IRISH DOWN !!! FIGHT ON !!!

      • Please excuse. the Arizona State score was 20-7, not 20-3. it was the Associated Press that gave Alabama the National Championship despite the fact that USC beat Michigan 17-10 in the Rose Bowl game. GO FIGURE.

    • At the moment Sarell is a long shot. Jackson is considered a USC “lean”. It’ll be tough to land both but having them on an OV together is a good start.

      • Houston offered an extension of 7 years .. He will not go anywhere.. O has Kiffin in mind as his OC and Kiffin is interested..

          • Exactly.. Sark moves into the OC spot a Bama and Kiffin runs O’s offense and Aranda on defense..Yikes!

          • That could send Saban into retirement lol..and Alabama back to just being a another SEC team .. LSU could be the program on the rise.

          • Yep. But in my opinion Herman is letting the fast track to a National Title slip away. LSU is an OC or QB away from being a playoff team, they have all the talented. Tons of it. I wonder what Texas will do and A&M also?

          • LSU is a HC with smarts away from being dangerous, they still don’t have that

          • Now that Fisher is off the table. LSU, Texas will fight for Herman. If Texas misses on Herman they may be stuck with Strong. There’s been talk today that Texas is also considering Jon Gruden but I’ll believe that when i see it.

          • Can you imagine Sark working for Saben as his OC? He’ll be hitting the bottle in record time

        • Who wouldn’t go anywhere – Herman? He’d be a fool to stay at HOU – you strike when the iron is hot before it cools and you find yourself where Mora is today – – – meandering deeper into mediocrity.

          • He has built a good program at Houston. Texas is garbage and it will take him 6 years to fix it, What happened nationally yesterday via his agent cost him the LSU job.. Watch .. O will get the job, to mess up the negotiating with Texas.. Herman will not hit a windfall because it.

          • I don’t agree ‘…it will take him 6 years to fix it.” Good programs recruit themselves and right now the other two noted in-state programs comparable to TX are TX A&M and Baylor – both in free fall..

There is no plus in staying at HOU – they’re not in a top 5 conference. (American Athletic) any one with real ambition wants to coach in the top tier and i doubt Herman isn’t of that mindset.

I get LSU securing Orgeron – not sure that is a smart move.

          • The smart move is to follow O to LSU and if he fails .. He slides in as the HC… Saban vs Kiffin would be classic Alabama LSU football.

    • DMH63, Max Browne’s last year of eligibility should be spent at LSU under Coach O AND histories greatest QB coach, Norm Chow. LSU’s history of poor QB performance ends as long as Norm Chow stays on campus. Next year LSU will have 4 redshirt freshmen QB’s looking for a COACH…..A Potential Montezuma Ending for Coach Chow’s career !!!
