Hmm…it’s overwhelmingly the Rose…is it based on logic or a wishful thinking?
It’s overwhelmingly delusional. That seems to haunt SC fans…unrealistic expectations and delusions of grandeur.
Hopefully, it’s not the case here. Putting Colorado in the Rose after getting their butt kicked in the conference championship game would be pretty humorous, too, especially after losing to SC during the season.
LOL. Talk about getting ahead of yourself… where do you keep that crystal ball? Colorado already got there “butt kicked” in the PAC12 championship??
Your right. Some people don’t understand why they play the game.
Yep! In several days, you’ll swear I’ve got some lethal psychic abilities you don’t happen to possess. LOL!
That’s really neat!
Isn’t it, though?
UW may not make the playoff even with a win over CO. Never underestimate East Coast bias. All the sports talk radio shows are deluged with Michigan fans.
Yep, we’ve certainly been down that road before, haven’t we?
We’re not UGLY, we know and expect greatness.
Tell us about all that “greatness” under Hackett, Kiffen, Sark…
“Greatness” means consistent winning…consistent conference titles…consistent Rose Bowls…and an NC now and then. Why deny SC’s short comings in these areas, pre and post Pete??
Tell me about all of the national championships, Rose Bowls, and heisman winners at UGLY.
Ever since the Wooden-Gilbert trust fund has dried up, Thug U aka ugly has not won a bball championship.
1995 was the last NCAA men’s championship UCLA won
Yes and Jim Garrick had his hand in the cookie jar by giving extra benefits to a recruit. So every championship they won was tainted due to improper benefits either by a coach or a booster. Johnny Cheetin Wooden motto was, If you ain’t cheetin’ u ain’t tryin’. Or the other one was, if pay, we will play
You said that UCLA had not won a NCAA Championship since John Wooden. You were wrong. Who’s Jim Garrick?
Newsflash: not all critics of the FB program the last few years are ucla fans. But you already knew that, right?
Overall, Southern Cal has has sent 483 players to the pros. That’s good for second all-time behind Notre Dame. USC’s dominance continues to this day. There currently are 55 former Trojans active in the NFL. Florida State, No. 1 in that category, has 56 active players. The Trojans lead the NFL with 219 all-time Pro Bowl selections, 48 more than Notre Dame, the next team on the list. USC and the Irish each have 12 Pro Football Hall of Famers. No other school has more than nine. These two factors separate the Trojans from the rest of the pack.
Claimed National Titles pre-Pete:
9 (1928, 1931, 1932, 1939, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1974, 1978.
Since the establishment of the team in 1888, USC has appeared in 52 bowl games. The Trojans appeared in 33 Rose Bowls, winning 24, both records for the bowl. These are also the most times a team has appeared in or won any bowl game.
Is that consistent enough for you. If not let me know. I have lots more.
All great stuff, and stats to be proud of. Left out of the picture is SC’s INCONSISTENCY during the past 7 years. Despite unfair and egregious NCAA probation, SC consistently shot itself in the feet with really bad HC selections, resulting in waste of talent on the field (albeit fewer players to draw from). CFB fans in general have about a 6 year memory span…anything beyond starts to be archival footage! No doubt the contrast is stark between PC’s years of glory and the seasons since then. We have a lot to be proud of this year, at 9-3. All that’s needed to pull out of “The Slump” is a New Years Bowl WIN on national TV.
Fight On!
I’m curious. Were does it say CFB fans have a 6 year memory span? Was there a study done on this or is that your opinion?
Why don’t you wrestle with that quandary?
Alabama 52 – bozo u 6. Two huge bozo 40+ yard FG’s and NO TD’s: “Greatness” personified.
Hey Bruin Rob, you wanna talk about greatness? How about that banner football season you just concluded. It caps a great 2016 athletic year for the gutty little Bruins. Lets go down the list, shall we. Basketball, your marquee athletic program, gets smoked three, count em three times by USC. This coming off the heels of a smackdown in football when you had the Pac 12 South on the line. Then in baseball where UCLA was picked to win the Pac 12 and you stagger home with a sub .500 record, capping the year by getting swept at Oregon State and not scoring a run in 27 innings. Now comes the 2016 football season, where again you were picked to win the Pac 12 South, and you wimper home with a 4-8 record, capping the season with a shellacking by Cal. Have you brainiacs found an OC yet for that train wreck you call a football program? How about giving Homer Smith a call? I’m sure he’s available.
Excellent recap!
Don’t forget the sweep in baseball. USC decimated them.
USC has been down after Pete left and the sanctions hit. Coincidence that USC is starting to look elite again shortly after the scholarship numbers have come back?
4-8, 2-7!!! What a f’g team!!! Rotfalmao!!!
Squatter,
Are you serious, you coming over here and belching a up a box burrito that you bought while on the campus of USC. We laugh at you not only for who you are but at the school you like so much, which it is Thug U aka U Clowns Lose Again. Ugly got rolled by Cal and the previous game Ugly got curb stomped by the greatest college football team of all time, USC. Dude, don’t hurt yourself today by delivering pizzas and picking up bottles and cans. Your two story hi rise card board box of a home located under the 605 fwy is waiting for you when you come home from a hard day’s work. BTW, don’t forget, tomorrow you can collect all of your benefits from the State and Federal government. Congrats on your income and your way of life.
Wrong address! LOL!
Question, just what is it that is “stuffed” in your eye ?
Never mind, “no” body wants to know !
StuffOn
Question: aren’t you done with your lunch break at the Taco Bell drive-thru yet?
Better Question: how old are you?
No that is Kissy 86er.
There’s only “1” way USC doesn’t get to the Rose Bowl !
Colorado beats Washington on Friday !!
And that won’t happen, take that 7 point spread and double it !
Colorado’s “D” is over hyped and had Sam Darnold not fumbled 3 times and had Justin Davis not fumbled at the 14 yard line as the Trojans were driving for a 7 point score then the end result would have been totally different ?
USC 44 – Colorado 13
Only turnovers kept that game close, Colorado’s Defense is not that good and besides USC, Colorado has basically been given a Wannabe Schedule…
Washington will prove that !
FactOn
“Whatever…”
‘Splain how if Colorado loses, bozo u leaps over Colorado into the RB. Correct me if I’m wrong, but bozo finished # 2 in the So. Conf. and isn’t a participant in the Pac-12 Championship game.
So what gives the bozo u the right to leapfrog the Championship loser to the RB, provided the winner is invited to NC Tournament?
Aside from your sophomoric language, I’ll bite and respond. Colorado and USC would both have 3 losses and USC beat Colorado (and Colorado coming off a loss could easily drop the Buffaloes below USC). It would depend on how Colorado lost. A close loss, especially if Washington won on the last drive, could keep Colorado ahead of USC. A poor showing vs Washington would drop the Buffaloes well below USC.
(If you are older than 14, you should be ashamed at your lack of command of the English language).
Bruin Rob also has a hard time with reading comprehension beyond the elementary level.
Simple, but for a ugly fan it is very complex, I will explain very slowly to you. When Colorado loses, USC and Colorado will have the same amount of league losses. With the Rose Bowl being USC’s winter home, the Rose Bowl committee would be smart to select a team that knows how to play, shows up, has won national championships, and bring a lot of people tot he game. In other words, USC is the better draw especially if they play Michigan or Ohio St. People are used to seeing a very strong Pac 12 team vs. a very strong Big 10 team in the bowl. TV ratings will be the best and money will be spent. That is how. Was that too fast for you? If so, read slowly. I won’t repeat myself.
CFP rankings, bozo.
Your right we let them back into the game.
I still see USC in the Alamo bowl. I think they will give Colorado the Rose Bowl and WA gets lucky and draws Alabama. Had we not lost 3 we would have a much better shot.
Remember during Carroll’s 9 year tenure at SC when going to the Rose Bowl was considered a consolation prize.
Those were the days.
Any recruiting news?
Looks like SC is gonna steal Bubba Bolden from Urban Meyer and Ohio State. He decommitted early in the year because we werent calling him every single day. Three of his teammates are headed OSU. All four of them are big time recruits and will be playing in the Army AA game. At least we didnt let Meyer come in and take Porter Gustin at the last second a couple of years ago and we eventually beat him for Bolden. That said. When he signs i’ll feel better.
More crystal ball crap ?
I was convinced for a whole year that Billy Preston was going to SC. I wasn’t the only one who felt good about our chances with him. What can I say? We tried. It’s not very often that a one-n-done BBall recruit gives SC that much attention. Let me add that in the final week leading up to his decision 90% of the CB’S all changed from USC to Kansas. He obviously had a change of heart and rightfully so. SC still has a lot to prove and Kansas is Kansas (Basketball).
NOW I MUST EXPLAIN “the crystal balls”
Scott Schrader hasn’t to be the best in the biz for feeling out where the kids headed. He wont assume or expect SC to get a player and he’ll give us the bad news instead of telling us what.we want ro hear. He’s rarely wrong. I’ll go further and say I can’t remember him ever being wrong since I first started following his stuff in 2011. With all that he now works at rivals. So that only leaves one reliable source that is always on the money and he feels SC stormed back for Bolden. Ryan Bartow is the man for 247. He’s their Greg Biggins. There’s around 6 National Experts, 10 Regional Experts, and then you have the school recruiting expert from all the major schools.
I still think that USC winds up in the Cotton Bowl against the loser of the Big 10 title game. I’m hoping its not Wisconsin because thats just a replay of last year’s Holiday Bowl. Either Colorado wins and goes to the Rose, or Washington wins and Colorado goes to the Rose since UW would be in line to get crushed by Alabama. The only scenario where USC goes to the Rose is if Colorado gets crushed by Washington and drops below USC in the national rankings.
I can honestly say its good to know that we wont be playing in the Holiday Bowl again. And we should be grateful that we avoided a trip to the Kentucky Fried Chicken Bowl. Wink-Wink
Washingtons out of conference schedule has been and still is scrutinized by the CFP. If the UW v. Colorado game is close, wouldn’t surprise me to see Michigan at 4.
Washington doesnt deserve to be there at all. I dont understand the love as USC suppressed them
Hmm…it’s overwhelmingly the Rose…is it based on logic or a wishful thinking?
