USC Morning Buzz: Should Adoree Jackson Have Featured Sooner?

adoree-notre-dame-2016-2The Notre Dame game will be Adoree Jackson’s signature game that thrust him into the spotlight. But from an offensive standpoint, why did it happen in Game 12? USC’s offense needed him against Alabama and more importantly, Stanford, but he barely played offense against the Cardinal.

The one time he really featured on offense against Stanford, it forced the Cardinal to change their defensive formation. But it was OK to feature him offensively against 4-8 Notre Dame? Stanford, with Ryan Burns at QB, was where he was needed. Instead, he was used against Notre Dame and the more pass-happy DeShone Kizer, which would tax him more on defense.

  1. Several things should have been done differently against Alabama & Stanford. I know it. You know it. Helton knows it. Swann knows it. @Adoreeknows it. Let it go.

    • Helton publicly admitted he was planning for Bama since December 2015! It appears Helton’s poor planning did not include Adoree J. Still learning on the job at the time. Lesson learned with a grade of A+ vs ND!

  2. A certain blogger was trashing the USC coaching staff for using Adoree too much on offense last season. But that’s for the memory crowd to giggle about, I suppose.

  3. Great player … Playing for arguably one of the top two teams in the nation! #rosebowlbound

  4. Maybe against Stanford, USC was just out manned against the Tide. I don’t see AJax making up the 50 point deferential.

  5. AJ has as much effect as a decoy on offense. He has gone in just about every game, had his number called and either incomplete or tackled early. He had one offensive play work to perfection against ND, Wolf expects every touch to go that way. I think he loves our abuse.

  6. Shame he didn’t have the same game against AL and Stanford ‘but’

nothing beats sticking it to ‘the Princess’ and then listening to them whine about how evenly matched the game stats were except for a certain player.

Hope he returns and give them some more on Saturday 21st October 2017

  7. The Blogger forgets Adoree skipped Spring practices to focus on the long jump, which the Blogger endorsed.

  8. To answer the question USC has always held a card or two for the last hand. This not so secret weapon was waiting politely to spring his trap. The fans knew the gun was loaded, the writers knew the gun was loaded, it was down to when to pull the trigger.

  9. I saw him in there several times doing his thing, just not what he did to ND and lately…that is on him,not the staff…

  10. Max Browne was the qb for bama and for Stanford. Unforuntaley we found out that Browne has difficulty playing qb at the college level, so far. Browne would not have made the read to Jackson. It would have been a busted play. Thank you Scottie for not seeing the obvious.
