  1. While at SC, Joe had a lot of pressure on him to be the next Reggie. Never quite got to that level but he was still pretty darn good. RIP Joe.

  2. Welcome to the wild west. Thank you NRA for making sure everybody idiot thinks he needs a gun. Yea, I know it is all about the second amendment.

    • Yeah that’s the reason – a firearm in the hands of a thug – man lot of dead in Chicago – funny how the left and Prez. Kool Daddio never made any effort to stem the homicides in Cook County.

      50 days and counting

      • Actually am a conservative that thinks it is way to easy to get a gun in society today. That “thug” has to take a test to drive a car but can walk into walmart and buy a gun. You don’t have to call out Chicago to find gun violence we have a shooting just about everyday in LA/OC area. NRA is a brilliant marketing machine my hat goes off to them.

        • Fine you defend yourself with LAPD. There is absolutely nothing wrong with anyone owning a firearm unless they’re a convicted felon on probation and I’m willing to bet the perp that killed Joe was just out from Angola.

          • How many today would want there son or daughter to be a police officer with the amount of guns that are on the streets in the US?

          • You better hope someone does unless you’re going to hit the street and fight crime boyo

          • The point is they are faced with impossible job given the amount of guns in the population and scrutiny placed upon them.

          • The point is there will be guns whether you liberals declare them verboten or not. You liberal gun grabbers just don’t want good people to be able to have them

          • Have you heard the arguments? How do you stop bad guys from getting guns? How many laws you need. Will the thugs obey all your new laws? Think it through. I just added a nice 9mm to my arms collection.

          • Uncle Rico is well named. He’s just like the guy in the movie. He’s a big mouth who doesn’t know what he is talking about.

          • Hey Uncle Liberal, are you going to call for knife control now that a USC professor was knifed to death by a student?

          • What about with the amount of knives that are on the streets in the US, Uncle Liberal?

        • The thug did not buy the gun at Wal mart more than likely on the street. Where he would have bought it with ease..

          • So a conservative can’t want stricter gun laws? I lost my manual can you please tell me the rule on that?

          • You are right about the gun laws in Louisiana. There is next to none. I am NRA, have no problem with guns, just the wrong people owning them.

          • Nope, you trust the government to protect you. That’s what you liberals do. Next time you get robbed be sure to tell us how long it takes for the police to come save you.

    • The NRA had nothing to do with one of your pals from Somali carving up Ohio State this week. Luckily someone was there to shoot that dog dead.

          • The NRA has given us a country full of paranoids that think everybody is coming for their guns. They have done a brilliant job in getting people like you fearing anything that moves to buy more weapons. Having stricter gun regulations has nothing to do with being a conservative. Nobody has ever said banning guns except the NRA and their creation of the slippery slope narrative.

          • That’s funny how you claim to be a conservative yet you make assumptions based on the liberal talking points you sop up at leftist websites. I don’t fear anything now that Obama is out the door. You have no shame using this tragedy to peddle your liberal ideology on us.

    • Thanks for self-identifying yourself as a Clinton intern. You idiots think America is an evil country filled with racists who voted for Trump. We heard it straight from the horse’s mouth at Harvard yesterday.

  3. I will never forget the one man wrecking crew of Joe McKnight, leading SC down the field to help win the game against Ohio State. RIP. You did not deserve this. I pray to God that the perpetrator is found and punished.

  4. Sounds like road rage more than a known acquaintance with beef. That’s unbelievable if it was just random violence, standing over the victim and executing him with a final shot over traffic situation. Then to wait for the police to show up and arrest you. Odd, very senseless

  5. Really sad to hear this I thought he’d get somewhere. I guess he couldn’t out run stupidity.

  6. Former LSU star, Tyrann Mathieu said he has no interest in going back home, because many neighborhoods in New Orleans are very violent , including the one he came from

    • Nobody can dispute how dangerous NOLA can be but it looks like this is a road rage incident and not related to criminal activity.

    • Many years ago I read a great article in SI about how hard it was for many athletes to escape their neighborhoods & how they often felt guilty if they did leave. Money & fame are not easy to handle in the best of circumstances, let alone if you are young. I grew up in a solid blue collar town that had one or two neighborhoods I did not go into. Went to school with a bunch of guys from those neighborhoods & many of them lived a life far different than mine. RIP Joe.

      • Exactly, everything is relevant, because no matter how low you are, there’s always somebody lower

        • True, and it never fails, no matter how good you are, there is someone better. Thats life, nice to be humble.

  7. So sad to hear about Joe. He never lived up to his potential as the #1 phenom RB recruit, but he almost single handedly beat Ohio St. In a remarkable last 9-minutes of that game.

  8. This is such an incredibly sad story. How can a murderer just take another person’s life like that in the middle of the day? It doesn’t seem that long ago that he played for SC. I feel really sad for him and his family.

I have no idea what happened on the road that led to this, but its another reminder that there are lots of crazy, angry and armed people on the road.

Stay safe on the road fellow Trojan fans. It’s just not worth it.

  9. 2 years ago August 1, 2014 I exited my car in Rialto, California after someone pulled up next to me accusing Me of cutting him off, throwing middle fingers at me.

I saw something in his right hand but didn’t back off (Would a, should a, could a)

I had to fight because I was cut off with no where go (But truthfully I would have got out anyway)

According to witnesses I was winning, but what the guy (PUNK) had in his right hand eventually made it into the back of my head, right side in back of my ear.

I was out cold, and the punk partied on me while I was out

(PROTECT YOUR HEAD AT ALL COSTS, EVEN IF THAT MEANS ENDING THE OTHER PERSONS …. !)

Recovery was (is) slow, Doctors don’t know …. about the ….. !

I still don’t totally regret what I did, You have to stand up for yourself !

I feel for Joe and his family, that could have been Me !

It’s not like the old days where the best wins

A 5 year old can pull a trigger

You never know what could happen, any day, any time

Stand Up for Yourselves, but watch out !!!

Hopefully Joe is with the Good Lord now, Everyone, HAVE FAITH !

You never know when Your time will come…

    FightOn

    • I have a solution for you…. move out of the IE… it is the second most dangerous place after south central in so cal.
