Who gets banned from commenting on Inside USC?

As regular readers of Inside USC know, this site receives hundreds of comments per day, and many of those comments are in violation of the stated Comments Policy.

Here is that policy, which appears on every Inside USC entry:

COMMENTS POLICY

We invite you to use our commenting platform to engage in insightful conversations about issues in our community. Although we do not pre-screen comments, we reserve the right at all times to remove any information or materials that are unlawful, threatening, abusive, libelous, defamatory, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, profane, indecent or otherwise objectionable to us, and to disclose any information necessary to satisfy the law, regulation, or government request. We might permanently block any user who abuses these conditions.

If you see comments that you find offensive, please use the “Flag as Inappropriate” feature by hovering over the right side of the post, and pulling down on the arrow that appears. Or, contact our editors by emailing moderator@langnews.com.

If you have had a single post deleted, you probably have nothing to worry about. If you’ve had 10 posts deleted, you have something to think about. If we have deleted hundreds of your comments for violating the policy, you will very likely be banned from commenting on the blog in the near future.

It’s nice if blog comments are on topic. We may occasionally remove a comment that has nothing to do with USC sports or the blog post on which it appears. That won’t get you banned.

It’s not nice if blog comments use inappropriate language and/or attack and abuse others. Those comments will be deleted. And users who make these kinds of comments are subject to being banned. Responding to an attack with an inappropriate/abusive comment is no defense.

The bottom line: Having your comments regularly deleted serves as a warning that you will likely be banned.

  1. What about all the inappropriate comments SW makes on the “Inside Colin Cowherd” blog?

  2. Every year we get this and nothing changes. People will bad mouth Rosenberg for a while then get back on Wolf’s case.

  3. Nothing cleans the blog up better than a bad season for UCLA and a good season for USC. The only UCLA troll I enjoy is ol Buckets. I developed an appreciation for his “charm” and unhealthy persistence.

  4. Can you post a list of those who have been banned and perhaps some of the comments that led to the bans?

    • If you post ANYTHING negative about SW, you’ll get thumbed. At one time, you couldn’t even mention his name without the ” this comment is under review by the blah blah blah ” popping up.

    • What is worse? Actually drawing a picture making fun of a tragedy, or calling the person out who drew it in the first place and getting the post removed. Said it before and I’ll say it again, typical liberals. They can dish it out but they cannot take it.

      • I’d like to knock that dude out who draws that. That’s what I think.

What happened to your post? Moderator?

      • First of all, making fun of a deceased person = not cool. Yet it’s hilarious that you have to inject politics into this discussion in such a hypocritical, self righteous manner…because trump supporters are so ethical, intelligent, and high-minded. Sure, bud.
        The elements of comedy.

        • The fact that you are the one said the word politics means that what I said was right on the money and it hit a nerve in you. Did I say anything about voting for Trump? No. The fact of the matter is that liberals are the most intolerant, mean spirited people on the planted. They all talk about being open minded and accepting, but when it comes down to it if you don’t share their point of view they will usually resort to making outlandish allegations about your character. Just like you did in your post. Go protest something.

  5. We’re on easy street
    And it feels so sweet
‘Cause the world is ’bout a treat
    When you’re on easy street
And we’re breaking out the good champagne
We’re sitting pretty on the gravy train
And when we sing every sweet refrain
    Right here on easy street

    • If you hate SW so much, why do you CONTINUALLY post here ? Why do you CONTINUALLY read his blog ? Just admit it, you can’t control yourself Kenny

  6. The ‘ignore’ features sifts out what an individual does and doesn’t want to read – it’s far far better than some ‘selective’ banning move by the blog site.

    • To any and all “newbies”, this blog was much, much worse back when NOBS ran wild.

      • That poor sap – in my life never seen anyone post such caustic vitriol that was/is all based on envy.

  7. Thank goodness. I was afraid this blog might one day be reduced to just snarky comments and making fun of the blogger.

  8. How do expect the comments not be based off the same negative and petty attitude of the blogger?

  9. Some, most, or harsh comments are pushed by the stories posted. The negative territory narrative is pushed for more dialogue and numbers that will increase traffic flow to the site.

In most cases, its the non USC fans who feed off the negative blogging by SW and whomever writes them by pourig gas on the flames and pushing the negative chatter..

I have also jumped in and pushed back at those who have been rather negative to others, including myself.

The interaction is great and I enjoy it, but at times its the fault of the administrator for not policing the blog ..when they should.

  10. I have corresponded with Mr. Rosenberg before on this subject. All is well and good if it was applied consistently but too many examples over the year of posts that should be deleted that were not.

Personally I’d like to cut back of all the non sequitur off topic posts that pop up from the (un) usual subjects, no matter what the topic there is always a ucla says usc sucks insualt post to sitract and

  11. “His judgment cometh and that right soon”
“Remember Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing every dies.”

    😀

  12. It’s amazing how some get offended by comments others make about USC, or their coaching staff . GET A LIFE! And stop trying to control other people’s opinions …UNBELIEVABLE

    • After reading all of that I’ve come to the conclusion that they aren’t paying attention to us because we’re always off topic and its rare for anyone to get flagged here because their are some people who have been banned years ago. I think he just said keep playing.
