USC Getting Ready To Feature A Harry Potter-Themed Dining Hall

When the USC Village opens next fall, at the site of the old University Village shopping center, it will feature a Harry Potter-themed dining hall. Why not when you have a Disneyland-style clock on campus?

  1. Ka-BOOM!! Wolfie, you nailed that…he’s here all week ladies and gentlemen. “Disneyland-style clock”. That’s a good one, NOT.

  2. Slow news day, eh, Scott? How’s about some tantalizing details on the Kiffin divorce? It’s not sports related, so your schadenfreude inclination can really kick in.

    • The funnier part is that the company that makes the “Disneyland-style” clocks, has been doing so since the 1840’s… over 110 years before Disneyland existed. If you look at the Verdin site, you can see these same clocks at universities, country clubs and town squares all over the world. Among the 50,000 plus that have been sold, Disney World has one… just like the Smithsonian.

  3. It must be hell getting on in years and not embracing the new exciting things. I am sure the quiddich pitch will have artificial grass too.

  4. Speaking of Harry Potter, does anyone else see the resemblance between Vincent Crabbe and the Blogger? At the age of nine, he was hit by a car; he was expected to die or suffer severe brain damage, but surprised doctors by apparently recovering full mental faculties and star (?) in the Harry Potter series.

  5. Snowflakes. Where are they going to park the puppies, the blankets, and the safe zone with the dinning hall taking all the space. Sc is just encouraging the snowflakes not to grow up, because it is a mean and vicious world out there and SC doesn’t want johnny or jill getting hurt too early. What a pile of horse dung. Will they have flying brooms as well? Who cleans up the mess when they have a battle in the hall? Scott there is more to this story. You got to find out.

  6. Glad to see USC is in complete synch with by far the most dominant literary phenomena for young people since the ’60’s when The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings mesmerized future USC undergrads.

USC is vastly more associated with the entire entertainment culture than any other college in the world. So the Harry Potter deal makes a lot of sense. Good thinking by USC.

And besides, USC people have been calling the new USC Village Harry Potterville for years. Now, it’s real.

    • From everything I have read and heard USC Village is a slam dunk success. It further cements the school as a good neighbor & corporate citizen. The Village will attract top flight students & staff ( probably won’t be of great appeal to most athletes). Students and nearby residents will love Trader Joes. I look forward to see it when completed.

      • In my days we all went to the kind-of-a-dump 32nd St Market for extra food and cheap booze. You could buy there with shaky IDs.

Trader Joes’s will just make a killing with the SC kids. I wonder if fake IDs work anymore? Can’t imagine how they could make them now.

I knew a USC student who made fake IDs so we could get into the 90, the Luau, etc. He had somehow got ahold of an official State of Calif license stamp that would pass as official on his home made licenses. He popped ’em out like nobodies business, sold them for $20, and lived like a king.

        • Ah, the good old days. I had a fake ID that was so bad , it was funny. Looked like a Membership Card from one of those super hero clubs. I am sure it didn’t work–the liquor store clerk just didn’t care if me and my friends were 21.

  7. Amazing that this guy makes a living covering USC sports for a newspaper and he obsesses over this kind of stuff. Over-under on how many times he mentions this clock? Of course we’d have to put a time limit on it since I’m sure he’ll be commenting on this for years to come.

  8. How is the Rose Bowl prep going? What about recruiting? Baby QB, the clock, Darnold should have started earlier, slamming Adoree and what he has accomplished…Wolf, you are a one-trick pony.

Surprise us with something positive and USC related..

  9. -Baby QB
    -Galen soft serve
    -Late kickoffs
    -Shiny helmets
    -Adoree long jump
    -Cal State LA athletic department
    -Greek interlock design
    -Disney clock

        • Well 22, it appears it took the “rumps’ big mouth and Putain’s “Evil Empire” IT hackers to swing the US election.

Would Ronnie stand for Putains behavior?

Chances are Ronnie would have Nancy start a “Putain’s a naughty boy” button campaign

          • It appears you have been watching too much Clinton News Network and PMSNBC again. You would think after all those leaked memos that you would have learned that they are tools of the Clintons and not serious journalists.

Meanwhile the Democrats enter Week Three of their denial of the loss of the election: first they claim the Russians hacked them, then they demand a recount, and this week they threaten the lives of the electoral college voters. Who knew that when Hillary said in October that not accepting the results of the national election was a threat the democracy she was talking about herself and you, Owns? Maybe we should start calling you Benedict Owns now.

  10. Wow an Elementary School Harry Potter themed dining room at a lightweight academic Univ. seems about right. And combined with a the silly Mascot characters that debut last year, bozo u has Loony Toons covered.
