Jordan Simmons Denied Sixth Year

USC offensive lineman Jordan Simmons tweeted this morning the NCAA denied him a sixth year of eligibility. It’s relevant because offensive tackle looks like it will be a big question mark next season with Chad Wheeler and Zach Banner departing and E.J. Price no longer on the team.

  1. Fight On, Jordan – best of luck in your future endeavors. I think Toa will be moved to tackle – he should do a nice job next season out there.

  2. Not an issue – Toa Lobendahn at LT and Chuma Edoga at RT. Both past starters to go along with Mama, Falah and Talamaivao in the middle.

    • Has Lobendahn ever played a full season without getting hurt? I always thought he was undersized for offensive tackle, but we shall see.

      • Lobendahn played well at LT, though you are right he is a bit small. Maybe To a and Chuma switch sides. But as long as he can avoid playing center he should remain healthy – that position has been cursed for us.

        • Edoga worries me. Last year (2015), I don’t recall seeing Edoga complete a block at RT. He was clueless. With Banner starting every game this year, did Edoga have the chance to show he can get the job done at RT ? Will we be guessing in September, 2017 ?

          • I hate to say I don’t see Edoga doing much outstanding. Never has to this point.

CH has a lot of work to do in the trenches. We’re not much at all there right now and frankly, PSU threw us around for much of the game. But Darnold’s a ghost in the pocket, and then he’s suddenly gone. Our RBs had little space all game.

  3. This is where you really find out if Helton’s position coaches have the moxie to coach their returning/new players in filling the holes of departing players without too much drop-off in execution. I am particularly anxious to see how both lines play the beginning of next season.

  4. Man, I hope McNair wins that lawsuit big and makes the NCAA pay him a lot of money. I especially hope that it becomes quite evident and undeniable during the trial that the NCAA are nothing but a bunch of con men and cronies who would put Al Capone to shame when it comes to being corrupt.

  5. Came out of high school highly rated; I mostly remember he was always injured; maybe this final season he would have had a chance to show his talent, but ncaa is about punishment …for SC.
