What are USC’s odds to win the national title next year? Bovada just listed the Trojans at 9/1. That ties them for fourth with Michigan and Oklahoma. Alabama is No. 1 at 4/1. Odds for all teams listed are after the jump:

  1. Who is going to play on the OL& DL ? Does Bovada give odds on who these people will be ?

  2. I’m concerned about the interior lineman, so let’s not jump the gun just yet. Big physical teams gave the Trojans problems last season, so let’s hope Clay Helton gets some immediate help

    • Then again, the bigger, stronger, more physical defense lost last night. But yeah, ours needs work, for sure.

    • Agree. We will not be NC material until we can consistently beef up the trenches. Unfortunately this is not really a good recruiting year for DL out west — could really hurt us. Hopefully we can pull a guy or two from the east.

      • It is probably to late to get someone that will help with next season unless there is a transfer out there someplace. Perhaps the guys we do have for DL need to work at both tackle and end if they have the weight. Even a guy without the weight but has the speed and quickness would be helpful at tackle especially on the pass rush so we don’t have to blitz every down.

  5. After Clemson won the NC last night,.after 35 years, UCLA fan, alums and followers stated next year will be there year.. Lol.

    I pulled a Lee Corso, “NOT SO FAST MY FRIENDS”..

    I said .. What universe are you delusional people in ? 62 years your team has and continues to be irrelevant.. Go sit in the corner with your bruin safety pins and win more than 4 games.. The bruins will never be in any discussion of national championship chatter, peace out!

  7. I just hope Helton handles the pressure / expectations better than Joey Freshwater did in 2012. I think he will, he’s a lot more mature.

  8. Until USC becomes dominant again on both front lines a National Title is a pipe dream. We all saw what Alabama did to USC. Does anyone think that they could’ve matched up with Clemson or a LSU as it stands right now?

    • Yes. We had a stiff tree standing behind center against Alabama. Max Browne was the easiest target that the Alabama DLine faced all season. Alabama’s Dline would not do that to USC now with the progression of our Oline and the ability Sam has shown. It would be a lot closer.

  9. You don’t have to be the best team in the country every week to win the National Title. You don’t have to have the best D-line and O-line in the country either. You only have to be better than that week’s opponent, get into the playoff and win two games.

    Can the Trojans beat Texas and Western Michigan at the Coli? Yes
    Can they beat ND in South Bend next year? Yes
    Can they win the PAC 12 South and win the PAC 12 with a loss and maybe even 2? Absolutely
    Can they figure out their interior line challenges in time for the CFP and win 2 games? Heck yeah

    National title contenders they are then.
