USC Morning Buzz: Anything But A Field Of Dreams

ROSE.FIELD

Now here is a quote that is handy following all the slipping and sliding at the Rose Bowl during last week’s USC-Penn State game. Unfortunately, it’s a 2014 quote from Sports Field Management magazine. You can read this article and then further wonder why the field was inadequate. By the way, did you notice how nice the field in Tampa was for the Alabama-Clemson game? No slipping. Just playing.

  1. They weren’t worried about the surface of the field. They were more impressed the paint job.
The field was terrible, there’s no denying that. But as Super Sam said. “Both teams had to deal with it”

    • The real unanswered question is why the turf was fine all season for the ruins but when they finally have an important game to be played there the Rose Bowl management/City of Pasadena came up with that slip and slide surface.

      • I think you’re right. And now the poor little gutties can’t stand USC owns them – and their field – and they’ve just bowed down, whimpering over here and looking for attention from USC folks. Whimper On ucla!

    • No, the brainless rah rah response is to attack the critics instead of making sure it doesn’t happen again by firing the incompetents involved and replacing them with experts.

  2. Now this is Inside USC. I don’t want updates on Adoree Jackson’s decision. I don’t want updates on the 2017 recruiting class. I want to hear a quote from 2014 about the Rose Bowl field conditions. FIGHT ON SW! GREAT JOB AGAIN!!

  3. Wolf is trying his best to somehow make the Rose Bowl field conditions USC’s fault but it’s just not happening.

    • The Wolfman lays no blame on USC for this, it’s all on the Rose Bowl white jacket bunch

      • Must be terrible for you having been relegated to posting in a foreign language.

  4. Gee, maybe some enterprising journalist/reporter could find out what the problem was this year. It is rapidly becoming old news.

  5. Hey Wolfbag, how many times do I have to tell you? New turf was installed and it was rolled too much causing too much compaction. Therefore, it played like concrete and that’s why players were slipping and sliding. Basic reading comprehension would benefit you greatly. But I forgot, you don’t read the comments.

    • The Wolfman asked a RB rep as to why the field was bad after the game, maybe YOU should learn to read !

      #INYOURFACE

      • Yea, after the game. What was he supposed to do? Track him down during the game and ask him? Anyone with an ounce of intelligence could tell you why the field was in the condition it was in. Go get some toilet paper.

  6. The Wolfman continues to kill it, day after day he’s on top on his game !

    #POORRBFIELDCONDITIONS

  7. Sorta analogous to how Trump (blackmailed by Putin) will screw up the USA. Wait Trump can do that all by himself..But like Darnold slipping yet still making that magnificent jump pass for a TD ..we will survive to connect on the last second field goal to save team USA

  8. Doug McIntyre had a ‘slow growth’ advocate on his morning show some 20 minutes ago who reported that the Westfield Mall group is planning a 12,000 seat arena for the west SFV. She stated it is good that the word is out to resists the build and also that some city officials were ok with it moving forward. Didn’t state site but it sounds a lot like a good fit at the old Rockwell-Rocketdyne site in Canoga park

  9. It’s official! Let the Chargers play at the Rose Bowl. Don’t put artificial turf in the Coli.

  10. I left the sports bar where I was watching the game at the half time because I could see the ACC officials were putting their thumb on the side of Penn State in their calls and that the field was apparently not covered from rain to minimize the influence of USC’s speed, especially Adoree Jackson. What do you learn in college football these days, especially in the PAC-12? You learn that the game is rigged for the sake of TV ratings? At least it prepares you to live in a world that is also rigged. But then, college football becomes like taking a course in Cynicism 101.

  11. I get it, I get it. Anything USC, remotely associated with USC, or that USC touches in anyway, sucks. Still waiting for that Jeremy Bates update…
