Rose Bowl Fact

burnett-rose-bowl-2The Rose Bowl rating (15.74 million viewers) is the highest for a USC game since the 2012 USC-Notre Dame game. The only higher-rated regular-season game was Ohio State-Michigan. And it was the highest-rated non-playoff bowl game.

    • And the same for Thursday night games. And throw out Friday night games too while you’re at it. I figure that neither is likely to go away.

      • You would think Swann could just say no more. USC carries a huge piece of the PAC12 income.

  1. I wonder how the numbers are counted. The number of people watching at the end was most likely the same as the beginning because it was an exciting game.
Which begs the question does a boring game such as the Rams Vs. The Chargers lose audience as it progresses?

  2. Those emblematic four words that travel east to west and west to east – say it now:

    We Are S C!

  3. A little confusing, as usual, Scott. But after reading it a couple of times it looks like this:
    1. Highest rating goes to the 3 playoff bowl games
    2. Next highest goes to Michigan-Ohio St
    3. And then comes SC-Penn St.

    Sounds about right.

  4. Unbelievable game. USC offense had its way for most of the game. Pushing around the Big champ 575 yards to 465. Time of possession 33min to 26 and shutting them out in the 4th quarter 17-0. The last quarter was surprising because Penn St. owned that quarter for most of the season…Fight On

    • PennSt O ran and passed up and down the field once their qb settled down .. the USC offense was Sam Darnold, no rush game , unreal throws.
Pathetic defensive performance vs an offense that had 3 players touch the ball all game long .. if PSU doesn’t go stupid their final possessions and basically try and go three and out ( Sark time ). Gomer would have alot of explaining to do.
As the everyone knows ‘ It’s better to have Sam Darnold than be good ‘

  5. That’s why the NCAA lifted the sanctions on Penn St., because everybody in America knows Those Helmets, and those Uniforms are what viewers tune into see. Penn St. draws, and now all those people that have been telling me otherwise can see the proof is in the Nielsen ratings. Hi Brigitte.
