Quality Schedule

alabama-wash-2Since this is the week everyone has schedules on their mind, I can’t help but notice Washington’s non-conference schedule for next season:Ā Rutgers, Montana and Fresno State.

Are we going to hear the same alibis as last season if the Huskies make the College Football Playoff for why their schedule is so weak?

  1. This is the most important 2 weeks for recruiting and we get nothing over here. Thank God for GP and WEARESC.

  2. Modest Proposal: To be eligible for the CF Playoff, Division 1 schools may only schedule other Division 1 schools – no FCS schools. Playing an FCS school automatically disqualifies school from CFP consideration.
We can call this the “SEC Rule.”
There are 128 Division 1 football teams, and plenty of them are patsies, see U Dub’s schedule.

    • Yeah AL always had TN-Chanttanooga penciled in a week before their final game – notice that’s no longer there? Same w. Auburn (Citadel) or FL (FL A&M)

    • How about: Victory over 1AA (or lesser) school does not count as official game. Loss to 1AA (or lesser) school counts as loss. And, give more weight to SOS.

  3. Hard to say Wolf. Perhaps they will all have terrific seasons and end up 33-3 combined. What are we going to hear then Wolf. What if, What if What if.

  4. There are only three schools that have never played a FCS opponent: USC, UCLA, and Notre Dame. I have to give some respect to UCLA this year, because they are playing six home and six away games, with nonconference games against Texas A&M, Memphis, and Hawaii. Compare to Florida, SEC East Champion, who plays 7 home, 3 away, and 2 neutral site games. Two of their games are FCS Northern Colorado (6-5) and FBS Alabama-Birmingham (0-0, because they didn’t have a program at all the last two seasons).

    • The SeC non-conference games are “always” weak, and most of the time “very” weak !!!

      • Especially in week one for the Tide in 2016 playing the Trojans who looked like a high school team against them. What say you Pasadena about that. Put your foot in your mouth. A stupid statement that has no merit. The Idaho, Hawaii, and Fresno States of the country are on par with weak ooc teams. The SEC has a stronger conference whose games make up for a lesser foe in non-conf. play.

  5. Quick info on the recruiting front, unless last minute changes, USC has roughly about 15 players wanting in. As of now USC has 7 open spots and still will use the blue shirt angle to lock in the 23 and possibly 3/4 BS’s.. USC has also been in contact with several grad transfers and may pick up others in the coming months.. Winning 10 games and the Rose Bowl plus having Darnold as the qb has helped the recruiting.. We may launch into the #1 or #2 spot nationally.. Its a great time to be a Trojan.. One last note.. USC’s football team avgd GPA was 3.30 per player was while to powder blue gutties barely carried a 2.6 as their team GPA avg.. Congrats to Clay and his entire staff for pushing the academics..

  6. “Rutgers, Montana and Fresno State” ?

    How “pathetic” !

Move the “Poodles” to the sEc, they will fit right in !!!

And to think of it, Washington escapes a brutal beat-down in the Coliseum 2017 also !

    PatheticOn

  7. All college sports save for football rely heavily on RPI index for rankings. Strength of schedule is a significant element of RPI. Would be an improvement to college football to cite RPI and instruct the committee to use it as a foundational guide to rankings.

  8. Most of these schedules were made years ago. After next year Washington will have Auburn in 2018 then Michigan comes on the schedule i believe in 2019

  9. Have you looked at Trojans schedule starting in 2019 ? Not alot of formidable non conf foes. Fresno St, Rice?

  10. This recruiting season is looking more promising every day. When you start to get these good players like Bolden and Marlon and Godfrey and Mckenzie, they suddenly start to come aboard like an avalanche. It will be interesting to see how many more interesting names that we get.
