USC Flips Washington Commitment

Marlon Tuipulotu, a four-star defensive tackle, switched his commitment from Washington to USC tonight. Tuipulotu visited USC last weekend. Maybe he changed his mind after looking at Washington’s non-conference schedule.

  1. The excitement never stops. Great news, and great job by the staff to turn Marlon and make him a Trojan for life. WooHoo!!!

      • Petey, I’m somewhat confused. bozo u’s Spring classes began 1/9/2017. According to bozo u information there are 57 instruction days during the semester. Let’s say for the sake of argument Marlon somehow starts classes 2/6/2017

How many Univ. units are required for Marlon to be eligible for spring FB? Does Marlon get a free pass for all the spring semester days missed? Is this NCAA Kosher?

I know SUCC is a Private Univ. and can do many things prohibited at Public Univ., but can they jury rig the amount of accretion hours necessary for a FB player to receive a passing grade?

        Just asking?

        • Next Friday is last day to drop and ADD a class. Confusing for somebody who has never attended anything above a trade school.

          • Actually that is a fair question. How do you catch up when you’ve missed a half a month of school? Maybe you never went to USC but believe me that would put you behind the 8 ball.

          • The deadline to add is Friday. He will have to play catchup but the AD full academic resources will be at his disposal.

          • Part of the back story. Three weeks both parties have been working on plan to enroll by 2/27.Came together last weekend.

          • Odd that, has bozo u waived the usual entrance requirements? No SAT or grade problems? Marlon a academic scholar?

If that’s true why didn’t Sanford recruit him?

There’s no guarantee Marlon passes his HS Finals. And chances are if he does, he isn’t prepared for catch up Univ. level academics.

          • He’s in AP classes, pretty good idea he has some classroom skills.. Keep flipping burgers. #mayItakeyourorderplease

          • I tried to find a report about his grades. Usually the early grads are on top of their studies.

          • On the 247 site a poster, who was from Oregon said MT was in AP classes.. It sounded like a recruting insider who knew the flow of the MT recruitment to USC. Maybe even a family or friend, coach, no idea.. But he shared some good info and convo with SS and Free Kobe on the site who seemed dialed in in the process. I don’t pay for that stuff because I have intel within the football team. I figured the same, if he’s graduating earlier than norm he must be on top of his studies.

          • When a football player enrolls at USC classes are not required. They immediately get a girlfriend, car, private housing, $$$$, and free pass to Disneyland. When they enroll at UCLA they get a baby blue sweatshirt.

          • Lol.. Ummm it was Ucla who was busted with a bag of cash ..Not USC, no record, just fake news!

          • Gosh Ricky, that still doesn’t acct. for the days Marlon wasn’t within a 1000 miles of or enrolled at bozo tech.

So if the last add/drop day is 1/27, and Marlon starts 2/6, He’s a week past the A/D day and out 19 days of instruction.

Let’s see Ricky, that 19 days = 33% of instruction days Marlon was no where on campus. And what transpires if Marlon misses more days.

That’s why bozo tech is the 65, 66, or 67th best Univ in the US.

          • Ricky, you’re stupid enough to spend 70k a year for a c- education and wind up making a living balancing Dog Tootsie Rolls on his nose for Hollywood Blvd. tourist.

          • Yeah, you’re right. You’re not totally obsessed with USC. Thats why you know all of this info at your fingertips. Just come out of the closet and admit you want to be a Trojan.

          • When did you stop using US News and World Reports college ranking? When USC passed ucla? USC #23 ucla #24

          • We all know football players don’t have to go to classes anyway at USC , it’s just a formality anyways. They buy their way into rankings and buy athletes grades.

I once met a mechanic who was drafted third round out of sc. he was dumber than a wrench.

          • Stevie, what does the MD stand for? I say Mental Dysfunction. But I could be wrong.

          • Hey Squatter, are you coming by and saying hi to me tomorrow night? It is okay if you are wearing your janitor clothes from working the Galen Center. I know, you are an entupenuer and it is one of your many jobs. I still want to meet you.

          • Bruin Rob is still trying to maneuver through the management trainee program at the Golden Arches. He’s having a hard time figuering out the oil temperature for the French fry machine.

    • Gosh, remember the last person U-Dub gave up that made bozo u so happy. What’s he doing these days.

      • USC 2017 Rose Bowl Champs vs UCLA 2017 Toilet Bowl Champs… #wheresGaryBedan #halfchamps #of1954

        • VF, please don’t insult the toilets like that. You will give them a bad name by associating them with ugly.

      • I suggest you switch to waterproof mascara moving forward.

      • He’s the OC at Alabama. Now let’s look at some NFL rushing Stats. The Minnesota Vikings were last in the NFL right behind the Mighty Los Angeles Lams. Quess who is going to be the UCLA offense line coach? Clancy Pendergast will have all kinds of fun running thru the Ruins. You can’t make this stuff up……Fight On

  2. he was to be early enrollee there ,so I read, and that is why he came this wk’nd to see, to maybe be one here this last week for SC spring…. wow…he was there biggest recruit…wow

    • Since USC is on the quarter system he will be in classes in the spring and on the field for spring ball.

      • usc isn’t on the quarter system, they’re on semesters. i believe he would need to be enrolled by the end of this week which is the deadline to add/drop classes

        • The reason he committed to USC was the quarter system option..USC247 stated that.

          • i think that may have been a factor for him committing to UW as they are on the quarter system, but i am 99% sure USC is not on the quarter system

          • Thats what is confusing.. When I was there 25 year ago, it was semesters, I thought they changed it.. When it was posted on 247.

          • USC is on the semester system. I’m from the Class of 96. Fight On! Anyway this is a big get! One hole filled and on more to go.

      • VICTORY FORMATION, SC was on the semester system from 1965 to 1969 and things haven’t changed. For Just Owned’s information; One Outright Football National Championship, two Heisman Trophy’s, more than a dozen Men’s and Team National Championships, several Olympic Gold Medals, and the college home of Bill “Spaceman” Lee, a superb USC NCAA Pitcher who was later the media’s choice in a historic Red Sox – Redlegs World Series. We are done with you for now, JO. Take a hike, Whimp. FIGHT ON !!!

        • I was a student at USC 84-86 MSB- grad in 86 and grad from Gould law in 95. Transfer from CSUN.

          • VICTORY, I graduated with a BA in Geology in 1969, at a time when USC was a Hippy free, clean campus, Conservative College. An MS Degree at The University of Wisconsin introduced me to frozen lakes, snow fall, sub-zero degree weather and a campus wide daily assemblage of non-student druggies, Neo-Communist, and anarchistic social dropouts, etc. The punishment the school suffered, IMO, was a 26 game consecutive NCAA Football losing streak, the longest in the nation. After USC’s loss to a super Ohio State team in the 1969 Rose Bowl, the Badgers sorry football team was almost to brutal to take.

          • Ahh interesting .. My father grad from USC 1959 .. Engineer for the C of LA… My gradmother grad back in 1948 worked in the entertainment industry.. My mom went to Chapman and grad from USC in 1962, she also worked in the entertainment industry as I do now.

        • Is it true 47 “take a hike” was Todd Donoho’s go to phrase. According to Google, he’s now working for the Missouri Tiger’s BB team.

Not quite as successful as 47, Todd Donoho’s Doppleganger.

One for the road Todd, what one outright bozo u FB NC would you be referring to?

  3. Good news!
Seems like he is more than
    qualified football-wise.
Let’s pray he is a good human!
The staff it seems can recruit…
    F.F.F!!!

  4. Great news! If you are a top ranked DT prospect, why wouldn’t you go to USC. Its obvsiously a position of need, so a quality player should immediately compete for playing time. A chance at a National Champsionship and get to play right away?

  5. Fellow Trojan fans,

If you have any plans regarding the 2017 USC Football season feel free to DM me or email me at grantwha@usc.edu. I work in ticket sales for the athletic department so if any of you have any ticketing wants feel free to reach out. We have season tickets on sale right now for 2017 which includes Texas, UCLA, and Stanford. Should be an amazing year which will hopefully end in a playoff berth (fingers crossed).

    Fight On!

  6. This reminds of me when USC signed Shaun Cody then the flood gates opened after that with all the other top recruits following afterwards.

  7. Watch now. They will try and beef this guy up and that might put too much weight disproportionately on his upper half and make him prone to torn ACL or something (e.g., Bigelow). 295 lbs is plenty big enough.

      • Most kids have their biggest gain during freshman/sophmore years. He may become heavier and that would be muscle which is a good thing but not necessarily an end goal. He can play at 295 and even 285, strength and quickness are major factors.

  8. When I first saw this dude in the US ARMY game, I instantly thought, “I wish USC had recruited this dude.” He was so dominant up front. And for him to now be a Trojan. Awesome. Still more good stuff to come. Can’t wait until September.

    • My buddy told me some guy on that site said “I wish i was dead”
They felt Tuipulotu was the “jewel” or “centerpiece” of their recruiting class and that Tui royally f*ck*d them. That they are out of line with way the are handling this. I get it…Not only was he best player in the class, he was also going to be start school in January so to them they assumed that was a done dealnand the closest thing to a signed player since Peterson has a visit policy for commits and him being an early enrollee only led them on more. But they know that anything can change before he actually signs that LOI. And when they react by hoping he blows his knee that’s low class and below the belt.

      • USC encourages recruits to take their visits they usually like to have the last visit or in home visit. Why would anyone try to prevent a 17 year old from fully exploring their options?

        • I always liked that we try and get the big fish to visit last so we can stay fresh on their going into signing day. Why the other conferences have the top players visit early in the season when they beat up on teams like The Citadel or Sacramento St play Michigan or Oklahoma is not the smart way to go.

  10. As was reported by a few posters on this blog before it happened — apparently more in the know than a paid journalist.

      • Ted, i think you’re seeing why SC backed off Greg Rogers a while back and Andrus. We have players that are bigger prospects with more potential on our mind that are flat out better players and we won’t settle for less.

  11. KABOOM!!!!!!!

    #1 DT by one service.
Good work by the program for getting it done here for a BIG TIME DLINER!!!!!
