Ex-USC Assistant John Morton Now Jets’ Offensive Coordinator

John Morton was a viewed as a prickly wide receivers’ coach at USC under Pete Carroll/Lane Kiffin. One memorable experience was he didn’t like to play Jordan Cameron much, who went on to become an NFL tight end.

Morton moved on to the NFL and will become the New York Jets’ offensive coordinator, according to Adam Schefter.

  1. Nothing against Morton but the Jets are historically a full on dumpster fire. You seen the number of: gm’s (3), head coaches (3), qbs (4) they burned through over the past 8 years?

    It’s a job and that’s what counts

  2. Ummm, with national letter of intent day just around the corner do you think we might get some “inside” information about recruits? Or is the title of this blog an oxymoron.

    • There’s plenty of timely USC recruiting info here suppled from USC people who actually know what’s going on.

It’s understandable that Birdcage would stay away from recruiting, except for cut-n-paste blurbs of info long past publicized.

You think SC coaches actually talk to Birdcage about any recruiting info? Never happening. Fortunately, he’s not necessary and is best just left out of the loop, especially as USC is recruiting so much better than he was hoping.

  3. USC is obviously great for the coaching resume. Trojan coaches are everywhere, just like Trojans period.
