Man Who Admitted Killing Joe McKnight Indicted For Murder

A grand jury indicted the man who said he shot and killed former USC tailback Joe McKnight on a charge of second-degree murder. Ronald Gasser Jr., was initially arrested for manslaughter in December four days after the killing of McKnight, who was 28.

  1. Will be interesting to see how Tombstone justice plays out in Louisiana. I predict this shooter’s going down for Murder 2. Senseless killing. Wait until the jury hears about his prior.

      • It’s called prior similar act and can be admitted for limited purposes.

        It’s a bench call and will be appealed later by the losing party for sure. Were I the judge, I’d admit it, but I understand some judges would think it too prejudicial.

        This will be THE core-argued motion of the entire case. It shows all the state of mind capability (hot head city) the state needs to prove. If it’s admitted, he gets murder 2 or he pleads to voluntary manslaughter. If not admitted, maybe involuntary manslaughter sticks. No way he walks. Too many witnesses. But McKnight was partially culpable for ever getting out of his car. He just didn’t deserve to be shot and killed.
