Steve Sarkisian To Falcons

Steve “Booger” Sarkisian was hired as offensive coordinator by the Atlanta Falcons. That one game as Alabama’s offensive coordinator sealed the deal. But think about it. Dan Quinn worked for Pete Carroll, who likes Sarkisian and no doubt recommended him.

Meanwhile there is already a report Sarkisian and Nick Saban’s relationship was on the rocks.

UPDATED: Here’s the canned Saban statement.

“We appreciate all Coach Sarkisian did for our program during his time here. He is an outstanding coach, and we wish him the best in his new role as Atlanta’s offensive coordinator. As always, when we have an opening on our staff, we will use it as an opportunity to go out and hire the best coach available.”

  1. Shows you that not being a complete jerk counts for something. Sark’s transgressions were far worse than LK and Sark seems to be landing on his feet better than LK and a lot faster. Though I highly doubt Sark will succeed as an NFL coordinator, he’s 1-2 seasons away from theoretically landing a job as an NFL or top college HC. Where even ESPN hype machine couldn’t propell LK further than Sisters of the Blind U.

    • Saul, Sark hire as Atlanta’s Offensive Coordinator must mean the Super Bowl Offensive Coordinator was fired presumably for not running three plays into the New England front before kicking the Super Bowl winning field goal. Were you as shocked as I was when the Atlanta QB took that first sack instead of running the football ? Atlanta’s TB # 24 whiffing his block sealed the deal.

  3. Nick Saban would have ended up punching him in the face, so I understand. At least Steve Sarkisian didn’t have to take a job at a gutter program, so let’s hope he can gain some leadership skills, too .

    • What are the odds he stays sober? This is exactly the wrong way to deal with a lifetime of addiction.

  4. Translation: Sark lands his 2nd OC job with an elite program 1 NCAA 1 NFL since being fired for being a drunk.

    • CP2016 —-How come all my friends are getting kicked off and I’m still here? It’s lonely.

  5. People can hate on Sark and make all the jokes they want. But he has landed on his feet and has a job that a lot of coaches would love to have. I hope he maintains his sobriety and wish him luck. If I never hear about him again on this blog I would more than ok with that.

  6. Sark wasn’t at the super bowl was he? I mean that could explain the complete fold up the Falcons did.
I actually wish him well as long as I don’t have to read about him in a USC blog anymore.

  7. As a transplanted USC Trojan to Atlanta, and also a Falcon fan, it has been a horrible week. First the all-time choke job in Super Bowl LI, now this news. The Drunk is back in my sphere, screwing up another team I root for…. Oh, the humanity!!!

  8. Saban lost his OC Kiffin, his Oline coach to Oregon, and his new OC now with Sark.

DID TOMMIE ROBINSON GET HIS $$BUMP$$ YET????

  9. I guess Sarky can’t be described by the incident that got him fired at SC on this…blog. Anyway, my earlier comment: As an Atlanta Falcon Fan who happens to a transplanted USC Angeleno, I can say that this news adds to an already horrible week–first the all-time NFL choke job by the Falcons on Sunday, and now Sarky is back on my local horizon as the latest member of the Falcons’ coaching staff. Oh, the humanity!

  10. Well this is a first Alabama lost and the coach blamed the offensive coordinator.
