Tommie Robinson To LSU

USC running backs coach Tommie Robinson was hired by LSU coach Ed Orgeron. It was first reported by The Advocate. Robinson is a big loss for USC. He was a quality coach and also well-liked by the players. He also saw the big picture, which is sometimes difficult for coaches. I wonder if incoming tailback Stephen Carr is unhappy with this news. Robinson is expected to make at least $575,000.

And don’t think Orgeron doesn’t enjoy plucking an assistant from USC.

  1. Well crap. Get on the horn to Kennedy! Carr committed before Robinson was in place. Right?

    • Yea, Carr committed prior to TRob coming back onboard. I am curious to see who is hired. You have to wonder if Clay knew this was coming and began looking around for a replacement already. Either way, there are a few candidates who would likely jump at the opportunity to coach a couple big time backs at SC.

  2. I was going to say Kennedy Polamalu might be a good fit but he was hired by the Vikings.

  3. could be a big blow depending on who Helton can get to replace him. polamalu is not a bad idea, but Mcnair would would be the craziest hire of all. not likely, but i’m just playing devil’s advocate.. LOL

Pluck you! – proofread for once

  5. Not really a loss, move Nansen back to RB and either bring in former USC players and nfl coach Dennis Thurman and or McDonald…Local guys with strong ties to LA… This hire could even be a statement hire, Marcus Allen!

  6. USC and Helton beat LSU and Orgeron in recruiting right out of the gate so turnaround is fair play.

USC will get another great RB coach soon. Frankly, they’re not that hard to find. RBs can either run or they can’t. Just need another strong recruiter, of which there are many.

  7. Now Swann and Helton will have to show what they are made of, can they reload with a comparable or better OC? Then they need another on staff to pick up position coaching duties.

  8. And don’t Orgeron doesn’t enjoy plucking an assistant from USC.

I just wish the bloated one could speak in English.

  9. Helton should consider bringing back McNair. Knowing he was Bush & White’s position coach would probably excite the RBs.

By the way, where is the MCNair-NCAA lawsuit right now?

  10. Ed Orgeron was only duing his job to land the best coaching staff possible but he’s on my list of coaches who i want to get payback on, haha.
