USC Sideline About To Become Dignity-Free In 2017

USC has rehired former strength coach Keith Belton to be its associate strength and conditioning coach. He spent the past two seasons at UNLV. Belton is best known for being a sideline cheerleader, whether jumping around, waving a towel or celebrating with Steve Sarkisian, who brought Belton to USC from Washington.

    • Yes. Helton is a grown man. He must’ve seen something that merits his return. I, for one, will not question this because of what Helton has shown.

  1. I would like to see Helton expand his coaching network instead of hiring Sark’s or Kiffin’s guys to come back.

Not all of them are bad. Just would like to see Helton be able to bring in any coaches with no prior ties who might want to come to USC.

    • As victories come and coaches go, he’ll have many more options than he did when he first took over under Haden

    • One thing keeps coming into my mind about hiring coaches, is that Helton is still new, looking good, but not “proven” in some peoples eyes. This may be holding back some coaches from coming to USC, due to the uncertainty of a future. As Helton continues, the stigma around USC will diminish.

  2. Being excited is one of the ways average mgmt. conceals their ineptitude. It isn’t smart to start re-enacting the Pete Carroll goof-a-thon on the sidelines.

Is this re4ally a good move class?

  3. I assume he was a good coach with something to give to the team. USC is not desperate, so the coaching hires should the best available.
Spirit on the sidelines is really not a bad thing if it doesn’t detract from the game.

  4. I can accept the hire, and I think Helton has expectations that were clearly spelled out before the hire. If he doesn’t cut it then it is on Helton.

  5. 49er’s announce Tom Rathman, RB coach, is not staying. Very good coach with lots of history, knowledge, and maturity. Could be a good fit for USC.

  6. I have a friend that went to HS with me that’s been on the SC strength and conditioning staff since Kiffin was hired. He’s a good dude, hope he’s still with the team.
