Another Chimezie Metu Update

Here’s what a Pac-12 spokesperson told me tonight about Chimezie Metu’s attempted trip of an Oregon player: “It was reviewed and has been addressed with USC.”

So it sounds like he will not be punished by the conference.

  1. Then let’s hope it isn’t the ‘blow back’ Haden got after he got found out per the Mayr Foundation…..keep on working on the Coliseum Pat …. no problem here….

  2. And smacking the Oregon player on the back is okay? If Enfield doesn’t address these infantile antics on his own and have Metu apologize things may get heated in the Pac 12 tournament.

    • Metu is clearly a victim of a cultural misunderstanding.
The blow to the Oregon guard’s back was really a show of respect to his conqueror and a compliment, not a flagrant foul.
Tripping is the same thing, a recognition by Metu that he was defeated and he was honoring the victors by tripping him.
      Don’t hate him.

    • marvgoux1, Come on. your carping at our Best BB Player and Contributor who has played in 25 games prior this one without a trip accusation or a slug/punch/smack/slap accusation. Where you there and did you have 100% of your concentration focused on Meta and CLEARLY saw what took place BEFORE, during, and after ? If not, the H@LL with Wolfies !5X26 videos from afar. Wolfie like Hillary. Use every opportunity to turn a pitifully inconsequential event into a featured headline story to denigrate a person or program.

      • The other players need to see that no one, even the Best BB Player and Contributor, is above the rules of society and sportsmanship.

  3. Look, ease up on Metu, he’s just a misunderstood kid from another culture here in the big city, trying to fit in. Maybe he has irritable leg syndrome or had to go to the bathroom or maybe he just had happy feet. He may have just been anxious to get into the game so he could sucker punch a defenseless Oregon player in the back. Give the kid a break he’s adapting to our cultural norms. I’m sure if you check ADA guidelines, he’s protected here.

  4. So it sounds like……………..Did you ask him if the Conference was going to punish him?

  5. Players in all sports have their moments, pitchers throw at hitters, bb players throwing elbows and swinging at the opposition and not connecting is rarely if ever called, even trying to give an intentional foul isn’t called if you don’t connect, no biggie, he just had a brain fart.

    • Actually, two brain farts in one game.
Maybe he should try anger management or ice hockey.
Let’s see how Cheesy does from here on out, I, for one am willing to give him another chance to show his true colors.

  6. Let’s all be honest here. This was a stupid thing to do out of frustration. Metu is by no means that punk from Duke.
