USC Morning Buzz: An All-Too Familiar Pac-12 Result?

Here is my analysis of last night’s game at Pauley Pavilion, which focused on the added pressure USC faces in marquee Pac-12 games because it plays an ignorable non-conference schedule.

Excerpt: USC has no doubt exceeded expectations this season. But when you go 14-0 to start the season and win 21 of your first 26 games, you need to do more than lose to UCLA by 32 at Pauley Pavilion. Full story here

And here’s another stat from the Andy Enfield era: I don’t believe USC has won a Pac-12 road game against a team with a winning record in four seasons.

  1. This sucked but let’s be realistic, you could see this coming. Ruins is 6th ranked, had to prove their mettle. It would look ridiculous if Trojans swept again on their court. Our best chance I thought of these 3 gauntlet games was to beat Ducks. Anyway I’m tiring of bball

  2. We’ll be fine and i think this loss will only lead to positive growth from our team. Alford inherited talent at Ucla and Ball coaches this team in the huddles and on the floor. Enfield started ground zero and we’re in the thick of things. We still have a lot to play for and look forward to. When they watch that replay in the film room that should be enough to light a fire.

  3. But you’re the bad basketball program right?

Don’t get it twisted with that 8 point BS. That wasn’t just an 8 point loss. We controlled that game. You know it. That’s wasn’t just a rare loss to USC and UCLA tripped up. No Mrs Rents. That was 4th consecutive defeat to USC. We got beat down last night. But before that you wouldn’t buy The LA Times for 4 games because it made you sick to see the front page.

Now go run along, celebrate and prepare to Princeton in Round 1.

  4. This team is not fine. Losing at home to Cal, Oregon, Arizona while holding on for dear life vs. mediocre ASU. Poor road team. They have been taken to the woodshed at least three times. Useless talk about not wanting to play them. What is so scary about playing them away from Galen? They don’t play 40 minutes of basketball a lot of times with lousy starts, and folding at the finish more than a few times. The teams you don’t want to see in the tournament are the Butler’s, Creighton, Wichita St., Northwestern, Notre Dame and TCU’s of the country. Let’s see if they can get past the first round of the ncaa tourney for a change before saying they are so very talented.
