Former QB Mitch Mustain Says Lane Kiffin “Disinterested” At USC

Former USC quarterback Mitch Mustain spoke to the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel about Lane Kiffin. Mustain said Kiffin seemed “wholly disinterested” in being USC coach.

“There was nothing unique about what he did,” Mustain said. “It just seemed to us, there was no effort for it. It was almost as if he was wholly disinterested in being the head coach. You can tell he enjoys the play-calling. He enjoys working with the offense and making that run. He was very good at it. As for the whole thing, it seemed that maybe it just wasn’t really where he wanted to be.” Full story here

  1. Mitch, you didn’t have #1 QB in the nation written all over you but i just want to say……..Man!!!!! I’m sorry Ronald Johnson dropped that wide open TD against Notre Dame. I’m really really sorry!

  2. I asked what did he say a couple days ago so I respond with Mitch who?
Anyway as I recall Kiffin had a head coach and even though you might want to be a head coach someday you make no points trying to win an nonvacant position.

  3. Crompton put his finger right on the button…. Kiffin is a offensive genius. Maybe Nick Saban made an impression on him to “bother” with the defensive side. Otherwise FAU follows the same path USC did when he was the HC, having to outscore the opponent at the last minute or two of the games. The Kiffin we know will load up on offensive side players in recruitment year after year and whatever is left over in scholarships will go to the defensive side. Kiffin would be an ideal HC in the Big-12 winning/losing games 63 to 59?
