Too bad about losing Ron Gould, did USC tarry and delay with an offer, was there no offer ? More details please. Anyway, he’s a good coach and will unfortunately help Stanford.
Who is McCullough and name me ONE great Indiana running back (why this guy ? does he work for cheap? Tevin Coleman was good but did McCullough coach him back then in 2014 ? )
IN hasn’t been to the Rose Bowl since 1968 and it’s the sole time they ever played in it. Not saying this coach doesn’t have skill but anyone would give anything to be gone from Bloomington-IN and their football program
There is not a more pathetic program in all of the power 5 save KS that is known
Even worse than f uucla?
Bet they fired the professor for telling the truth.
He was B1G coach of the year 2014 played in the NFL and has had more RB drafted while at IU than USC has during the same period.
Yes he was B1G coach of the year in 2014.
Afternoon Update 5:50 EST/2:30 PST: 247Sports is hearing this is close to done.
The 44-year old McCullough is one of the top young coaches in college football.
Running backs who have shined under McCullough in Bloomington include Tevin Coleman of the Atlanta Falcons, Jordan Howard of the Chicago Bears and most recently Devine Redding who declared early for the NFL Draft following this past season.
Under McCullough’s watch, the Hoosiers have broke 19 school rushing records.
Amazing then again IN is still the doormat of the Big 10 and this individual’s smart move to leave will further implant indelibly the moniker of ‘joke’ on the In football program.
This is actually a really good hire. Not only was he the leading rusher in the MAC conference when he left school, but he played in the NFL. Also coached some players at Indiana to the NFL and one was in the Pro Bowl this year. Quality hire.
He is now following Stephen Carr on twitter. Along with some other USC stuff. This is our new RB coach
IU thinks it’s done.
“IU running backs coach Deland McCullough, the man responsible for developing three consecutive 1,000-yard backs who bolted for the NFL early, is leaving Indiana for USC, TheHoosier.com has confirmed.”
More on McCullough from TheHoosierDOTcom.
“He recruited and developed All-American Tevin Coleman, convinced Jordan Howard to transfer from UAB to IU for one standout season and most-recently helped Devine Redding to back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.”
He seems to be young up and coming RB Coach and considered by most as a solid hire. He should be pretty happy with the RB room at USC.
Great story on 24/7, prior to coaching in college, he was high school coach/teacher/principal as well as mentor and counselor for at risk teens and young adults. Sounds like a real good hire.
Confirmed Hire…Scoop
