Ever since USC was hit with severe NCAA sanctions, there has been the question of whether other schools would suffer similar punishment? And every time, schools like Miami, Ohio State, North Carolina and Oregon escapred tough penalties. Even Penn State, which did experience rough sanctions, had its bowl ban dropped and scholarships restored after two years of penalties in 2014. Remember, the NCAA denied USC’s request to restore scholarships the same week it dropped Penn State’s sanctions.
So now Ole Miss is in the spotlight. The school has received the dreaded lack of institutional control charge and coach Huge Freeze was accused of failing to monitor the staff. One of the charges includes an ex-staff member arranging for a recruit to get $13,000-15,600. There are 21 new alleged violations by current or former members of the coaching staff. USC had only one staff member accused of violations (Todd McNair).
So what will the NCAA this time?
Uh, if history has shown in the recent past: Nothing. Such a crime what the NCAA did to USC. I hope the McNair case still has some legs.
NCAA will do nothing because Southerners don’t investigate other Southerners for fear of revealing how ugly they are in the mirror.
It’s like asking the Congressional House to investigate the Trump Administration. LOL! Not going to happen!
tiger, why would the congressional house investigate President Trump? I know, because he is upholding the Federal Laws of the US, something Obuma did not do and even break the law up supporting them like he promised when he was sworn in as the President. Nice try snowflake
Wrong, dipstick, but try harder.
George, what, you dislike his hair or something?
His hair is the best thing about him.
You do sound like you are willing to take a wait and see or have you been out thrashing and burning?
I am not thrashing and burning but he will be a terrible president. Confident in that.
Why should we believe anything you say?
Snowflake, how can I be a service to you? I’m sure you are still crying about the cluster bomb election where the democrats tried to rig the elections with the Russians and the democrats screwed that up. Keep crying snowflake for another eight years. BTW, my stock portfolio is growing and it was reported on a real news station, (KFI) that taxes will be lowered. That means I can hire you snowflake to cut my lawn. Now, you will have a job. You should be thanking President Trump for your new employment.
Please, fool, stop embarrassing yourself.
You are an embarrassment.
You must be a liberal. Don’t give a reasoned response, just call your opponent a name(“dipstick”). You forgot ‘sexist….racist…..homophobe’.
Now you are really upsetting Maxine Waters…
Term limits need to be initiated. Maxine Waters brings zero value. She doesn’t even remember where Aleppo is. Sheesh!
She is auditioning for SNL. Pure comedy unscripted.
If only they would eat their own kind! Nutty Nancy P needs to be in the mix!
I was going to throw her in with the nut case Frankel.
Don’t forget the Swedish PM! Stefan Lofven!
If she is a nutcase(which she is), then what does that say about a lot of americans. They elected her.
Doesn’t say much for her district. They keep believing the empty promises.
Can’t argue with that.
She brings a negative value to the US. The taxpayers have to pay her for her schister scumbag behavior. She reminds me of another Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. They just take and never give anything back.
Term limits are the key!
She’s bored w/her job and needs to be thrown out!
Her “skills” can’t be transferred into the real world!
Her skills could squeeze through the eye of a needle.
Donald Trump is making America great again! Just look at the stock market! $2.9 trillion increase since his victory! If you have a stock portfolio, then you are seeing results!
tigerbalm, Today’s USA Justice Dept, headed up by a law abiding Attorney General, will be kept busy the entire 8 years of the Trump Presidency investigating and prosecuting criminal Democrat Activities and Those Responsible, both in Government and the Press/Media, Obama’s lawless 8 years years in office makes the outrageous sanctions forced on our Alma Mater by the NCAA shrink to insignificance. From the Depths to the Mountain Top, i. e. USC 52 – PSU 49. FIGHT ON !!!
Drain the swamp!
Get PizzaGate out in public view! Start publicly naming names! Good times ahead!
8 years of Donald! Another 8 years of Ivanka!
We have to start winning basketball games before we forget. We need a meaningful win tonight.
Sas
Agree 100%!
Yep!
And it shouldn’t!
Penn State was lucky that the Governor of Pennsylvania was going to sue the NCAA for the sanctions they gave them. Having a very high profile and powerful person on your side helped the Nittany Lions alot.
USC never had that kind of support from a very powerful person. The California Governor was never going to intervene on USC’s behalf. President Nikias wanted nothing more than for the NCAA to go away and be done with it regardless of what happened.
Jerry Brown is not going to spend money suing the NCAA on behalf of USC. That money is already slated for other projects…..like $10 billion to hire Eric Holder to defend illegal immigrants criminals.
And $90 million for college scholarships for illegal aliens. Is this a great country or what?
Not to mention the bullet train to nowhere.
Another $90 billion…
It’s great only if you equate greatness with stupidity.
The NCAA has become a gutless wonder. Any SEC member WILL get a pass.
They will accept the self imposed Bowl ban and dock USC 5 scholarships.
Ha. Okay, that was funny.
Maybe we can get them to make the loss of scholies retroactive to 2005 and then USC can bill Bush for his tuition.
This is very funny. Sadly the NCAA probably has considered it and would if they felt they could get away with it.
USC and Mike Garrett chose to fight the NCAA and treated it like a court case/civil suit. They got pounded because the NCAA is a club, you join the club, you accept their rules, you smooze the other club members. Every school since has realized you go to the NCAA plead guilty, repent, ask for mercy, and you get a slap on the wrist.
“They all want to be Trojans”
You have to remember how arrogant Garrett was about it all.
They never fought, and that was the problem. Instead, they said “prove it.” and refused to comment. The NCAA said we don’t have to. They then set the narrative, faked the evidence, cooked the books. USC never had a chance.
Now, everyone fights it IMMEDIATELY.
Wrong. The lesson all the other schools learned from the folly of Mike Garrett and USC is to IMMEDIATELY fall on the ground, admit all and schmooze your way out of it like f uucla did with their crooked OL coach. Golden is right and you are out to lunch.
You can tell Ole Miss is nervous in their actions of volunteering losing a few scholarships for a year and giving up a bowl bid. But that won’t be suffice if the charges are accepted. Ole Miss can thank their lucky stars Paul Dees isn’t around to run the sanctioning committee anymore.
Anyone know where the McNair lawsuit is at right now?
Exactly what I am thinking Mr. K. With the McNair suit promising to expose the sham punishment of a member institution, the NCAA should be on best behavior. Remember the loss of scholarships was based on the player’s value to the program. This way they could claim minimal impact on Ol Miss and let them off with the usual 2 scholarships
SC should have sued the NCAA. ESPN was seriously wanting to do a ’30-30′ episode where they told the whole story of how unfairly SC was treated by the NCAA. The problem was(as I understood it) that they could not do the documentary because nobody from SC was willing to be in the documentary and give interviews giving SC’s side of the story. SC was terrified of the NCAA. SC has acted cowardly from the very start. They should have sued the NCAA. SC is the 2nd richest school in the world(according to the Wall Street Journal or one of those wall street newspapers). I think they said that SC was #1 in producing billionaires. They could have easily gotten some of the best lawyers to defend them. They should have sued.
Thanks Pat Haden.
Exactly, spinless, gutless, nutless PC POS.
But he hired a good womans beach volleyball coach!
But not a good mens volleyball coach.
I wouldn’t know much about that. Really, all I care about is football.
Those are pretty severe violations. They might get a strongly-worded warning.
Maybe even a slap on the hand.
Another excellent post by Mr Wolf
I think sanctions for Ol Miss will depend upon how arrogant they are.
If they drag their heals and deny, deny, deny as SoCal did, they will get spanked and spanked hard.
By the way, anyone seen St. Pat recently?
I understand they won’t let him ride the white horse anymore.
Arrogance should have nothing to do with it. The rules are the rules. If you break them, there should be a set penalty for breaking the rules. If 2 guys robbed a bank, should you give one of them 1 year because he asked for mercy and the other one 10 years because he was arrogant….even though they both carried guns, both pointed their guns at the tellers and both did everything else in an identical fashion?
Hurts to be a bRuin fan doesn’t it. The most irrelevant football team in Southern California (this includes High school teams).
People know Greg Sankey is in charge of the Infractions Committee. SEC Commissioner. Expect minor punishment
Something tells me that if he does not recuse himself this could be very damaging to ncaa itself. It could be the end, as we know it.
I sure hope so.
One thing the NCAA has been consistent on. They do not care what anyone thinks about them. Even though the violations are much more damning that what they claimed to have on USC there will only be a slap on the wrist. There will be nothing close to a death sentence because the SEC will not allow it.
Only if Rick Neuheisel represents Ole Miss. He’s the only one to defeat the NCAA.
Nothing, it’s an SEC school.
Hmmm, I see the arrogance is still thick at South Central.
Turn on your TV and watch UCLA basketball, that’s the best show in the country.
