USC Morning Buzz: The Friday Notes Column Makes Its Return

It’s time for the return of the Friday notes column, where I look at USC’s NCAA Tournament hopes and also talk to safety Chris Hawkins about how the coaches want him to assume a bigger leadership role this season.

By the way, USC’s game at Notre Dame that is scheduled for Oct. 12, 2019 sounded a little early. So I checked and it is the Trojans’ earliest visit to South Bend since 1963. Full column here

  1. The replacement of Adoree might be by committee. It looks like one player will fill the roll on defense and another one offense. Either way there shouldn’t be a huge drop-off. Maybe in punt returns but we will see.

  2. I think Hawkins is a good kid, seems mature and smart, but overall i think he hasn’t played up to expectations. He was our lone CB in the 2012 class and he just could keep up, moved to safety, he’s improved but he’s not a strong safety, SS’s are supposed to be able to bring down ball carriers at USC and CHawk doesn’t have the range and instincts in my opinion. I hope he kicks up a notch. I’m pulling for him to have a great senior season.

  3. Hey Wolf – most importantly did you ask Ken Pomeroy how losing by 1 to ASU impacted our lucky rating?

  4. Great investigative journalism there Wolfie!! We were longing for clarity on the 2019 ND schedule and you delivered.
