Some USC Roster News

There are several players currently out for spring drills: Wide receiver Trevon Sidney underwent hip surgery. Offensive tackle Nathan Smith tore his ACL during bowl practices. Cornerback Jonathan Lockett had hip surgery while Toa Lobendahn is still recovering from last season’s torn ACL.

Meanwhile, Clay Helton said there was no change in Matt Boermeester’s status but did not rule it out, which means he could potentially return to the team.

Above, Sam Darnold talks to the media. Darnold on being the talk of the NFL combine: “It caught me off guard, to be honest.”

  1. Sam Darnold has taken college football by storm after only 9-games. How lucky can a football program be in riding his coat tails in beneficial ways? However, he will no less have a target on his chest by opposing defenses this coming season. It is both scary knowing the pro scouts are looking at him heavily after only a redshirt freshman starter. And scary for USC in that unless Sam is another Matt Barkley or Peyton Manning at Tennessee in valuing his college experience, we won’t see him all 4-years here.
