Here is announcer Mike Walden’s call of the final moments of the 1969 USC-UCLA game on March 8, 1969. USC won, 46-44, on on a jump shot by Ernie Powell with six seconds left to hand UCLA its first-ever loss at Pauley Pavilion after a 51-0 start in the new arena. That was their first loss at Pauley and I recall accounts of Wooden’s wife, Nellie, going a bit apoplectic after the loss, towards USC players.
