USC Morning Buzz: Sam Darnold In Charge At Spring Practice

USC opened spring practice Tuesday and quarterback Sam Darnold admitted he never expected to be a subject of talk at the NFL combine.

“It did catch me off guard, honestly,” Darnold said. “It is hard to believe, sometimes. It’s awesome. It’s really cool.”

Darnold’s role Tuesday was to shape an inexperienced group of wide receivers.

“There’s not really that go-to guy,” Darnold said. “But you have guys like (Deontay Burnett) and (tight end Daniel Imatorbhebhe) that can make plays.” Full story here

  1. With a new crop of talented by unproven WR’s, Darnold is intelligent enough giving them confidence if they work hard enough to get open and (important) not give up on routes until each play is over, the ball will be thrown to them. They have to earn his willingness to throw to them and catch the ball though. Hoping Michael Pittman with his height, will blossom into a solid receiver.
