  1. Jesus Chr*st Bill Walton might as well book UGLA a spot in the Final 4. The Ghost of the Wizard said keep those big teeth hidden and act like you’ve been here before.

    • Note to Sas:
      Walton HAS been there before.
More times than any combination of SoCal basketball player put together.

      • Ucla beats usc in basketball by three. Oh and they leaf. Correct?
A Final Four isn’t in the cards for the cubs. There’s a strong formula to beating ucla. Take away Welsh and jump shot around the paint, and make Alford shoot those ridiculous shots that Dad allows him to take. Last night we did enough to beat UCLA and we didn’t play well at all. But Hamilton had a lazy Stewart on him who by the way was (is) in the doghouse and he let him take tthe the ball to the rim and it’s unlike Stewart to keep getting beat like that. He’s changed the last few games and its why he’s been benched. Luckily Hamilton had tge the easy target. Ucla won’t be there in April. Go ahead and make plans for that cool spring game you have every few months because ucla ows Los Angeles .

        • Had USC started off strong it would have been a different outcome.. Lol..Bill is harmless, know him and Luke well. But like you and everyone else, the game should be first priority… I finally gave up and changed the channel.. No need to see chatter and bs with the FWM crap.

        • They beat us by two. 74-72. Thank you Sas for letting me correct you. If we make a three pointer or make 3 free throws, SC wins. However, this showed the committee that USC can play with the big boys and can do damage if they come with their head on straight and play like they mean it.

          • Staying in games isn’t enough. The UCLA football team was “in” every game except the SC game and finished 4-8. Good teams execute at crunch time. SC basketball has not played well in the latter half of league play 2 years in a row. Enfield needs to reverse that.

          • You are correct. But four years ago, usc was in a state of being a dumpster fire. Next year Enfield will show us if the program is progressing by winning these tight games.

          • You are quite optimistic. Maybe it’s time for me to predict that the Bruins will play in the Rose Bowl in January.

          • Sc has two McDonald All Americans coming. They are upgrading their talent. Talent and coaching make a great combination

          • The talent at SC has upgraded but the same is true at a number of schools. SC has remained about the same in their class rankings within the league as before. We will see. Enfield hasn’t done much to impress me at this point. For that matter, Alford hasn’t either. It’s just easier to recruit BB players to UCLA than to SC.

        • Please, SAS this game was over in the first 5 minutes. SoCal couldn’t score. UCLA eased up on the defense and coasted through this game conserving energy they need for more important games.

        • Good teams find a way to win games like that. And if you think McLaughlin had a bad game, I’m not sure what you were watching. He kept SC in the game in the 2nd half with dribble penetration. He continually got past Ball for good finishes. What you have in Boatwright is a poor decision maker that doesn’t play defense. I loved that long 3 he threw up with lots of time still on the clock. He just isn’t a bright player and you were better when he was injured.

UCLA had a poor game last night. It happens but they found a way to win. SC didn’t execute down the stretch. Good teams execute better in those times.

          • You may be right but he missed 3 lay ups/shots in the paint in the first half and I stopped counting after that.
Boatwright has to remember that just because you have an unlimited amount of freedom doesn’t mean go for winner on some Jame Harden ball hogging trip. He didn’t even try to at least break down his defender.
I really thought both teams could have won, but in my opinion USC’S upperclassman JMac and Stewart didn’t take over when needed.

          • UCLA was ripe for the picking and SC didn’t get it done, even with a huge advantage at the line. JMac and Stewart played well. Boatwright is one dimensional. If his shot is falling, he’s good. If not, he doesn’t offer much of anything else in the way of defense and rebounding.

Arizona just schooled UCLA last night as the Bruins played poorly and without discipline. Bryce Alford kept jacking up threes while Welsh only gets 5 shot attempts and makes all 5. The reality is that Enfield has been Jim Mora. He has been a big upgrade from what you had, but at the end of the day, other than a few wins over UCLA (or SC in Mora’s case) what else do you have to show for it?

  2. Ok…i would party with Walton just to here a story about Conway Twitty or Willie Nelson. Grateful Dead? Who cares but….”Bill, pass it to the left please……Bill?”

    • I hate to admit it, but Ball shot the ball well. He is good. Now, I hate myself for admitting that. LOL Leaf is good as well.

      • PT, Ball is the best player in the country, IMO. I would love him to be a Laker. Unlike his father, Lonzo is very quiet and doesn’t act like a hot dog. Each school has a quarterback that just plays the game at a high level and doesn’t shoot off his mouth. UCLA has Ball and SC has Darnold.

        • I don’t understand his dad. Is he trying to cash in on his son’s? London is actually a humble kid

          • Yes, he is trying to cash in on his sons. My prediction is that son #2 won’t be successful and get much playing time leading to dissatisfaction. Son #3 is a much better player that will not end up at UCLA because of what happens with #2.

  3. Walton make up your mind pal. Are frying right fu**ing on television? You were on our nuts every time we pushed back, then you see a Bruin point and blue and gold stand and boom it’s the best trip you’ve ever had. Just be more consistent. We lost. An L is an L when you see the papers the next morning, but we beat them once, got blown away, and almost pulled this off. Stop giving that poor guy a hard time. I love the zingers, but it git awkward that it was truly Revenge of the Nerds time. Before the revenge. Congrats. We came up short.
Also, The Mars Volta……Bill, The Mars Volta!

    • Walton is Walton, but whoever directed this mess from the truck should be shot. Show the game. I don’t need to see Walton and I don’t need to see Lynn Swann. Stick to showing the actual game!

      • Walton’s back and forth with his partner seems to be on the rocks. Really get a feeling that Walton actually dislikes the guy. He tries to even kiss up to Walton and then that just irritates him even more. If Walton isn’t talking up ucla he’s slapping that guy in the back of the head.v

      • 88, showing Lynn Swann for a minute was not bad. If Guerro was there they should have shown him as well. Someone needs to get Walton back on track about the game. Bantering his collegue got a little embarrasing for him and his partner was becoming agitated. I have met him and he is a very nice man. He will talk all day with you. Very gracious.

        • I wasn’t really complaining just about the Swann thing. The director of the game kept showing Walton on the split screen, then to the benches and all during the time that the game was being played. I thought it was a very poorly done game by ESPN in general. I can understand people that don’t like Walton’s schtick. But Walton has always been Walton. He used to have a stuttering problem or some kind of speech impediment. Wooden often said that they taught Bill how to speak but they never taught him how to shut up.

          • I realize you weren’t and I didn’t take it that way. Espn lost control of Walton and the colleague. Tonight’s game was a subtle and professional style.

  4. This game confirmed that Boatwright and Metu would be making HUGE mistakes if they left for the pros after this season. They are no where near ready. I, for one, am still waiting for either of them to be a consistent contributor. Both need strength and seasoning.

    • Boatwright’s lack of defense alone will keep him from being a viable NBA player. Leaf abused him time and time again. Some others had mentioned it previously and I’m starting to believe it somewhat – SC might be better without him.

    • If they do go, they should take Andy with them as he is not a developer of talent. Also, if they had scheduled games against better schools early on, I think we’d have a much better chance of winning close games down the stretch as experience counts. The refs didn’t help us but there were some bad calls on the other side as well. At least we’re in the dance and can hopefully work the cinderella magic.

      • SC shot about 15 more free throws than UCLA. I think the refs did just fine by SC last night. Plus, UCLA played poorly. Maybe Andy should focus on coaching rather than yelling and taking off his clothes. Your team had plenty of opportunities but couldn’t get over the hump

        • I’m concerned for usc pertaining when usc is in a tight game or a in a new experience and they don’t know how to handle the situation. The team needs to have composure when they are in a new and different look

    • Agree! They are nowhere ready for the NBA. Boatright is not the same player as last year, maybe still favoring his injury in the back of his mind. Players are too inconsistent from game to game especially Stewart, Melton and Mathews. Buggs should have been used instead of Rakocevic in the middle unless he was unable to play or in the doghouse. One more year for Enfield to produce big time with all his players back plus O’Bannon and Thorton or be long gone.

  5. ESPN didn’t give a rat’s about this game did they? Split screens and babble. I just wanted to turn it off
