LaVar Ball Opens Mouth

LaVar Ball told USA Today “back in my heyday, I would kill Michael Jordan one-on-one.”

Ball averaged 2.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in the one year of college basketball he played at Washington State in 1987-88. He then transferred to Cal State Los Angeles. He also says his sons should receive a $1 billion shoe deal. Read the rest here

    • May he RIP. He was a baller. He played at Verbum Dei and man was he good. I saw him play several times. He was one of the best.

      • I probably should correct myself about the only player from CSLA worth mentioning. There was a football player from CSLA that when on to play with the Cleveland Browns. Had a very good carrier there. Forgot his name. Your right about Raymond Lewis. To this day, he’s the best shooter I’ve ever seen.

        • Unfortunately, he had issues that deterred him from making it big in the pros. But when I think of Verbum Dei in their glory years, he was the foundation to it all

  1. There is ZERO interest out there for Ball’s boys! He’s beating the bushes trying to justify them! He’s reaching too far and he thinks it makes sense!
Lonbozo has talent and will be his only ATM.
The market is always open, but no one is buying—which is why he had to trademark his tacky BBB!
I can think of a lot of zingers for that acronym!

  2. “He is more clever than I thought” (quote from the movie Gladiator)….And, in the words of our President,”All media coverage is good media coverage.”

  3. The Ball boys already are riding in style — at least the two that have driver’s licenses. Lonzo and LiAngelo each drive $100,000 BMWs, said Ball, who is a self-employed personal trainer and whose wife, Tina, is a middle school physical education teacher.

  4. Keyshawn Johnson and L Z Granderson had him on their morning show about 2 weeks ago. Gotta’ say he is all mouth but he is also one funny dude and pretty self-deprecating. Keyshawn asked him why Lonzo didn’t attend USC and LaVar Ball replied “If he was a football player he woulda’ gone to USC. He ain’t he’s a basketball player so it’s ucla for him.’

The man is entertaining and a lit cannonball just ready to hit something and ‘boom’

BTW Scott – good find – it was well worth reading if only for the quotes that’ll follow that crew all their playing lives.

  5. I think that he loves the attention and as long as the media continues to give it to him, he will continue to say crazy things……….the crazier things that he says, the more attention that he gets. He can’t really believe all that stuff that he says like killing Michael Jordan in a one-on-one basketball game. Eventually, all that bad attention will amount to a substantial amount of money. It always does. It doesn’t matter whether you are famous or infamous, being on TV and radio brings in the bucks. So maybe there’s some method to his madness. While everyone is calling him “motor mouth and loud mouth and trash talker” and using other hate speech terms about him, he’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.

    • You’re probably right about him. See Donald Trump and anything Kardashian.

      • I think that there should be some limits on what you can say and what you can show. Wherever the limits on what you can show should be, Kardashian certainly exceeds them. But I have never heard Ball or Trump say anything publicly, that would exceed what you can say. That’s just my opinion which is probably based upon the fact that I’m a conservative, not a liberal or a libertarian.

      • For sure. Just ask Scott Wolf or Bill Walton. I’m sure they just love all the bad press that they get. I’m sure that they even say crazy things to get the bad press. In that business, whatever puts you in the spotlight, good or bad, is good for your career.

  6. LaVar Ball is a Knucklehead, and he doesn’t know when to shut up. No way he just sends all his boys to ucla without receiving something in return. Doubt the ncaa Nazis have any interest in finding out what it was.

  7. Scott, You should post when LaVar closes his mouth. That would be a scoop.

  8. I think he’s hilarious, and he doesn’t bother me at all. I like eccentric characters like him. But I did go to their website, the BBB one, and saw the t shirts they are selling for $60. That’s ridiculous.

  9. Li’Angelo’s a 3 star recruit. UCLA will probably cut ties with him after Lonzo leaves.

  10. Lavar Ball is one heck of a father, and his sons are very talented, but lots of people criticize him because he compares his boys to some of the great ones . But if they were medical students, and he measured them up against some of the greatest doctors in the world, people wouldn’t have a problem with it. And it’s because society puts celebrity/athletes on a higher pedestal then anything else in this world. Leave the man alone until his products are finished, because nobody knows his family better then him !!

  11. If you don’t believe this guy is on the take like Reggie’s dad Lamar was, then you just ain’t looking hard enough.

Lavar and Lamar have got to be related somehow. It’s all about getting paid.
