Sightings

Pete Carroll and Norm Chow were at USC Pro Day today. Now that brings back memories.Meanwhile, offensive tackle Chad Wheeler did 17 reps on the benchpress of 225 pounds. That’s an improvement from his NFL combine performance of 15 reps. But the 17 reps would have still been the second-worst mark among offensive linemen at the combine.

  1. Mora just got back from a ‘safari’ to Mt. Kilaminjaro w. a group of former NFL and some vets – it was over on a radio feed interview the same guy who interviewed Helton earlier today. – PFT Michael David Smith on both.

Mora per Rosen sounds really thumped on what he said at the start of last year before Rosen’s nose dive and Darnold’s emergence.

    • Moral was bragging on Petros and Money about how he’s telling recruits that he’s this big charitable man and how he’s going to build water wells that will be able to supply water for 20,000 people for 20 years. Good gesture no doubt, but why is he bragging over Skype to recruits about that????

“Yeah but when is UCLA gonna be relevant?”

      SAYS THE RECRUIT

      • He was brutally and admittedly humorously mocked by Petros this past year at the celebrity golf tournament after it was announced he was separating/divorcing his wife as she was the main impetus behind the charitable event. I’m thinking this was his (Mora’s) way to get his name back in the ‘charity’ part of his pitch to the recruits and their parents.

          • Not when he (Mora) sticks his foot in it. Papadakis is pretty blunt hard on him because both he and Smith have commented repeatedly on how thin skinned Mora is as most if not all, save McClean, are that hale from there,

He has to show Mora some decorum as KLAC is bel-air tech’s home station

          • True. Mora’s got a lot of heat on him to produce this season. Rosen is veteran, and Mora’s had plenty of time to put a quality program together. He’s got a contract that is on his side but I think this is make or break time.

          • Problem for any one coaching at bel-air tech is the endemic politics (left) and shortage of money here in CA. McClean said it best for any incoming head coach for the men’s bb – no charters, not even upgrades, limited salaries due to lack of statewide interest unlike the case in IN, or IL or KS. Cost of housing for head coach let alone staff and traffic. Voila….mediocrity is the name.

  2. At least were another mess emerge that required the highest paid employee of the university to ‘play the man’ I doubt Clay Helton would book as Pete Carroll did.

  3. Didn’t we also hear that from you when Kiffy was coach and you were a pre-season #1?

  4. He only used UGLY as toilet paper during his days. Did you have to get a new email to come back?
