Coaching Matters

Oregon’s Dana Altman has been the best coach in the Pac-12 for years, getting the most out of his roster. Now that the Ducks are in the Final Four, it’s just glaringly obvious to the rest of the country tonight.

    • No, that’s the Darnold clause. If you have him – coach is irrelevant. Then again, if he tosses six INTs in Spring Practice, you’re in trouble. So what does that mean? Who the hell knows? Whatever is most negative for USC – Scottie will subscribe.

      • If another team wins, their coaching is superior to USC’s.

If USC wins, the players are so good the coaching didn’t matter.

Cut and paste analysis is easy.

  1. Sure. Oregon is doing great right now……But is this blog “Inside Oregon?” SW lauds over other school’s coaches, yet talks crud about USC’s coaches. What the?

    • Oregon is in the Final Four and has won 14 straight over SC hoops. Which are has more recruiting talent, LA or Eugene? How about LA or Spokane? Why do so many USC fans accept being a mid major when even Oregon and tiny,
obscure Gonzaga can become a national power in basketball?

  2. Scott why don’t you just come out and say you don’t like Enfield and give your reasons why? Are you afraid?

  3. I live in Portland and I have seen Altman up close . He is a very good & possibly elite coach. But his hiring demonstrates how difficult hiring is and identifying the right guy is often luck. Altman was the 3rd choice after Izzo & Jamie Dixon. When Altman was hired O was not perceived as a basketball destination. Duck fans are happy that choices 1 & 2 passed & #3 was a homerun
