Two Points On Sam Darnold

This is a telling picture from Saturday’s scrimmage. It’s also a good time to emphasize that two things can be true at once: Sam Darnold is the best QB in the nation and will be the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft if he goes pro next year. And it is also true his six interceptions this spring are way more than he threw in the 2015 fall camp; 2016 spring practice and 2016 fall training camp, when he had a combined total of two interceptions.

  1. Throw them in practice, try everything now, game time is not for trying something new.

  2. I’m afraid that you’re not actually watching these scrimmages. One of those INTs was nowhere close to Sam’s fault. Fluky. Double tip, etc.

  3. So Darnold is better than Leinart? Was Leinart the #1 NFL draft choice; I forget?

  4. Starting wonder about our strength and conditioning, way to many players getting injured almost every practice. Hopefully Keyshawn “Pie” Rojo, Tyler, Cam and any other player get healthy. The team needs everyone healthy without a buy this season. Strength and conditioning has to be very important for the team.

  5. Wolfy, did it ever occur to you that instead of reporting the what, when, where of the interceptions, focus instead on the how’s and why’s? Wouldn’t that be a more compelling blog posts? It would be so “analysis-y” of you since everyone knows how much you loveeeeeeeeeee writing analysis, in-depth articles, don’t you!

  6. Scooter, guess what, he will throw more interceptions in the spring practices. No big deal. he has not thrown one yet in the 2017 season. That is where it matters.

  7. Could it be that Sam is simply not a good practice player? There are those players who are not motivated by a practice routine. They rise to the occasion of a game.
