Sam Darnold On Interceptions

Today was the first time Sam Darnold spoke to the media for several weeks so he was asked about his six interceptions during spring practice.

“I think I’m definitely forcing a lot of passes when I shouldn’t be,” Darnold said.

  1. Translation: “Let it go. It’s spring ball. I’ll get ‘me all out now.”

  2. So Fink and Sears shine in practice today along with Green at receiver. We get the great Darnold spring interception gate. I met Darnold’s grandfather today a very nice man.

  3. Every team Darnold faces this season will see him for one football hour. Our D backs see him every day. My guess is they are sharpening their skills against the best.

  4. No different than last year where Max had picks and before that then Kessler or Barkley had picks. When you are inserted as the #1 QB you get more reps with the first team offense meaning more passes against the first team defense. Overall good practice for Sam and I don’t see this carrying over into the season. USC has not had a heavy interception QB in a long, long time. Probably because they get to practice with the level of talent on the first team defense just like Sam is now.
