NFL Draft Scrutiny More Than Ever

Speaking of Alabama today, it’s probably not the fairest game to base someone’s play on. But Pro Football Focus has put up some videos from the game that show how the Crimson Tide exploited USC. And it’s hard not to watch.

  1. WW im sure you have watched it 100 times. Sure it goes nicely with a bottle of your finest ripple. Me I have watched the ROSE BOWL over and over…it pars nicely with everything.

  2. All i see is the whiff block. I don’t know if the line was worse for just that game or we had a deer in the headlights for a quarterback.

    • Old Trojan, it appears you believe that Browne’s playing 95% of the game was one of the two most important reasons USC got blown out, I believe, is DEAD WRONG. THINK AGAIN.

      • There were huge errors in that game and clearly the quarterback was one of them in my opinion. However in this play one lineman goes right when the rest go left leaving a hole big enough for a steam ship to cruise through. That was mental mistake and that is on the coaches and a specific player.
The defense didn’t help much and some great players were caught falling down. It was not a fun game to watch.

        • The team simply wasn’t prepared to play a team like Alabama at the start of the season. It got overpowered by the end of the 2nd quarter. I’m not even sure it was all Max Browne’s fault. I remember years back when USC played Bowden’s Florida St. back to back and the coaching staff got a lesson on 4-quarters of quickness. The coaching staff has to know what to prepare for let alone prepare the team.

    • It is never good to open the season on the road against a Top 10 team. You need a game to work out the first game jitters. Love this year’s warm up game.

  3. Browne had a pocket to step up into even with the miss by banner. He’s a slow and poor decision maker. 2 things you definitely do not want your qb to be.

  4. Banner’s certainly not a quick player and never has been. He’s a decent player and a solid Trojan with a funny, even marketable personality. Hope he makes it for awhile in the NFL. Certain matchups will always kill him.

  5. That was a total team bozo u 52 – 6 loss. To blame Browne for the toejam humiliation is the antithesis of the Toejam Family myth.

The real blame should go to Clay Helton. As Head Coach he had to have an inkling the bozos were headed for a Tixas abattoir. Worse, Helton knew Darnold was the better QB, but he deliberately sacrificed the loyal Toejam Browne to save Darnold.

    • Squatter, how is that basketball championship trophy for the 2016-17 season ugly doing? LMAO. I want to make a $1.00 wager, ( that is a lot of beer cans and bottles for you to collect) that Rosen will be “injured” by the sixth game this year after he realizes that there will be no bowl game, no All American, no Heisman, and a 5th round pick by the Rams. LMAO

      • Rosen, the twig with the mustache flopped. ucla tanked, then rolled over. Darnold took over L.A. after crushing ucla and setting the all-time Rose Bowl record for greatest player in history of the game.

Poor little gutties. They got no place to go.

  6. Banner did not protect the inside rush. As a lineman, you make sure no one gets past you from the inside. Since the lber did get past, what kind of block did the running back put on him? That is another miss on blocking. The rb should have put his helmet right in the numbers of that dude. This happened all game long. They finally got blocking down later in the season, but that is a bad showing.

  7. Very grateful he never let that play or any other play define him. A good O-line coach in the NFL will work with Zack at 6’9″ 300+ can be a dominant force.
