Interception Update

Sam Darnold threw an interception Saturday and one on Tuesday so he has thrown eight in 10 spring practices. This is not a terrible number. But it’s worth pointing out because Darnold threw a combined two interceptions in two fall training camps and last year’s spring practice. One more and he will tie the number of interceptions he threw last season.

  1. Sign of a comfortable QB looking to test situations in “practice”, compared to a QB in a battle for a starting job. Don’t think it’s time for a Matt Fink starting gig, as Scottie would lead you to believe.

  2. Oh good… we were all dying for the latest update. Please clean off a spot for your Pulitzer.

  3. Scooter, guess what? He will break his record for interceptions. Reminder Scooter, even though he takes the credit for interceptions, not all are his fault. A few have hit the receivers hands and the ball bounces into the defenders hands. The receiving corp are starting to feel comfortable with Darnold and vica versa for Darnold. He is find out what the receivers are capable of doing right now. Relax sunny boy, Darnold is doing well. You haven’t talked about how many td’s he has thrown in spring practice. You might want to talk about that.

    • Spot on Pasadena. New receivers learning chemistry with the QB vs. a veteran secondary. I would love to know how many pics were actually caused by Darnold. Probably not many.

  4. Gee, I guess the king of L.A. football, and the leading candidate for the Heisman as well as the 2018 #1 NFL draft pick, is losing it.

This continual interception update makes me laugh. Humor is always good for the soul.

      • Not sure. But I do sense kind of a man-crush. His only hang-up in the “relationship” thus far are those gosh darn interceptions. But Scott tells himself like he would Darnold: “It’s not you. It’s me.”

    • Sad is another word that comes to mind. Reaching out for help daily with his grey outlook on life

  5. Why is it always an interception update? How many touchdowns has he thrown? (Please include potential ones)

  6. Darnold may have had more talented receivers that got open than he has this year? Maybe he was more selective last year in trying to win the starting title vs. having it in the bag this year? Maybe he has to throw to younger less experienced receivers in giving them a chance to show themselves capable? Maybe he wanted to give Scott Wolf something to “howl” about on his website?

  7. Let’s not forget that Darnold was the BACK UP going into last season, so presumably Browne got more snaps. Also, now that he knows he’s got the job, he may be (intentionally) trying riskier passes to see what his receivers can do. The interception count sounds pretty subjective to me.

  8. lots of new position battles…glad defense is doing something…worry if he throws 8 in Sept

  9. What else is new, Wolfbag ? How many passes did Sam throw and how many were completed ? What is Sam’s completion % ? The average yards gained ? His TD to interception ratio ? The Trojan Spring Camp offensive line seems to be in shambles. How about giving your bloggers something we can work with, SW ?
