David Webb Passes Away

David Webb, an undersized defensive end known for his big heart and the racoon-like eye black he wore at USC games, passed away today from cancer, according to a family friend. Webb was popular with teammates and coaches and memorable to any USC fans in the early 1990’s. He was named USC co-defensive player of the year in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Leslie, and two sons.

  1. Thanks for remembering —and helping us all remember —a great member of the Trojan Family today, Scott.

    • He apparently moved from linebacker to DT. He provided us Trojan fans with many memories and will be missed.

  2. Of course it is sad when someone dies too early in life. But the RIPs are not necessary. We all die as RIPs because there is nothing after this. So live for today, now, and the present, because it is all we have (which ain’t too bad!)

    • 1000% wrong, john wolcott. Everyone of us will go either to Heaven forever, or Gehenna forever. The gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to Genenna. The gate is small and narrow is the way that leads to Heaven and FEW there be that find it. When Coach Orgeron lead his Trojan Team in prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ, each member who prayed with a whole heart was blessed in countless ways.

      • First of all it is led his Trojan team. No idea what the hell is Gehenna. It is 110% for being above the max.
Maybe in your faith this crap exists.

    • Curious – Are you happy that you’re an atheist or agnostic? Better still, do you hope that you are right or wrong?

      • Its a shame having to pretend there is life after this one, when the only proof we have is this life itself.

        • If this is all there is then why do you atheists waste time on message boards trying to convince others you are right? You should be out doing as much as you can now before your pointless lives are over.

          • Oh. I’m not trying to convince anyone. I’m just agreeing with the facts.
I have no problem with others’ beliefs. But I’m pretty sure David Web dying of cancer isn’t exactly part of anyone’s beliefs.

          • You we’re talking to someone else. I butted in.
I’m actually comfortable. I don’t feel any pressure about being right or wrong. There is no concern about the afterlife in the first place.

This life is full of love, meaning and joy for things like USC football.

  3. Terribly sad when someone so young dies. RIP David- your were, and always be a great Trojan!

  4. HE was the size of the fight in the tiger, not size of just the tiger in the fight
