The Coliseum “Change Will Come”

Here’s another quote from Lynn Swann on the Coliseum renovation: “We know in many cases, you have had season tickets in the same location for years, have become close friends to those sitting near you, and do not want anything to change. But unfortunately, the change will come.”

Change can be good. But in college athletics, it usually involves opening your wallet. It’s funny how USC can undertake a $270 million Coliseum renovation but hold firm at not spending another $50,000 on a women’s basketball coach.

  1. I’m not a season ticket holder. Never have been. I moved back to the Bay after my senior year. My brother and his wife are but haven’t talked to them about this. Are people who’ve been in the same seats for years and who have made friends in those sections actually being split up with no other choice? If so, that sucks.

      • Squatter, I know you don’t have tickets to the ruin games because I know you can’t afford them. However, I see it very funny that you say something about greed when in fact, Ruin U aka Thug U aka Ugly pledged only a few million while the City of Pasadena is paying for the renovation of the Rose Bowl at $180 million dollars. I would love to hear you say something if Thug U, aka Ruin U aka Ugly had to pay the $180 million. I’m sure the shoe would be on the other foot. I told you earlier to get my pizza, where is it? You can never find good help.

      • Except a year ago your SJW/AD Chiati Dan tripled the cost of UCLA season tickets. Greed is good in Westwood also.

        • That sounds like “Rump” Alternative News 22.

Of course, in your favor, the RB remodel was just completed; and, Incidentally 22, the RB has been voted the #1 College FB Stadium for the last 10 -15 years.

On the other hand the Winos and rodents that inhibit the crumbling mausoleum are quite happy in the worst College FB venue.

          #thewall….LOL

          • Yes only Jesus saves that’s the truth just spreading the word I praise and love Jesus god bless

          • Here’s something else hilarious.
If Mora would have been fired after the 2016 season UCLA would have had to pay him over $14mil. That was his new buyout because of the 2 year extension through 2021. Not only that. Mora now has a worse PAC 12 record in his first five years then Karl Dorrell had. Karl Dorrell, while being a fine person, is considered by UCLA fans as one of the worst HC the Bruins have ever had. You can’t make this stuff up….Fight On.✌️

          • “[Bill] Clinton’s an unusually good liar,” his fellow Democrat (and Hillary endorser) Senator Bob Kerrey said of the First Liar. You make him proud, Just Intern.

          • As opposed to the “Rumpski,” Putain’s toy poodle.

            #”wheremypowerfularmada?

          • You need to update your Clinton News Network Talking Points. This week Trump is hurting relations with Russia.

        • Dan heard that the Minimum Wage is going up and figured most Bruins could afford the increase

    • Change is good. The game experience will be much better.
If people have friends, let them hang out before or after the game.
In any case, getting used to seeing the people around you isn’t friendship.

I’ve had the same tickets for 8 years and I recognize the people who sit around me and they recognize me. We’re not friends.

    • The bureaucrats who run the athletic department don’t care about the fans or tradition.

  2. It’s not funny.
College football makes money for the university.
    Women’s basketball does not.

  3. What is truly strange is not a single word as to what ever happened to Haden since the Mayr scandal broke. No word if any of the money was ever paid back, if any of the inordinate amount of scholarship money directed to USC was ever returned to the foundation for re-distribution. No word if Haden was asked to leave that foundation and if not why not.And not a word as to what exactly has Haden been ding this past year? Has he been the lead on these proposed changes to season ticket holder? Has he been relieved of any responsibilities since the scandal broke save losing his sweet ride as ‘AD’

Where is Haden in all this?

      • marv – amen – Haden made sure Sarkisian was gone and as much as Sark was a clown he at least recognized he needed re-hab over in SLC. This clown – Haden? Where does the university get off with this cover-up of this cheap louse – why it’s Pat ‘patrician’ Haden….we all know the drill….the grande dames and their spouses that ‘plant’ their kiesters just north of Bovard at the home coming game….they have their table covered in linen cut crystal and a real pecking order as to is seated where …. that’s the cabal of aristocracy that Haden has ascended to and nothing will impact ‘Pat our Pat’….

Hey Nikias where is your ‘boy’ Haden these past 12 mos.? Heard you’re raising tuition again Nikias…..have ‘pat’ kick in the $2.4 he’s shaken out of the Mayr Foundation

  4. Fair point Scotty. Guess it depends on how donations are made. What restrictions they have on salaries. Might make an interesting story by some intrepid reporter.

  5. Like the road taxes we have been paying stadium improvement surcharges for years without any real improvement. But nothing is new the Raiders promised to upgrade the facility when they were here, but zilch. The L.A. commission was supposed to improve the stadium, we got a new paint job but 60 year old seats.
At my advanced age I will believe it when see it…and I want more improvements than just installing waterless urinals and fake security gates.

    • More and more people are thinking like you. Is it worth putting up bonds for a new stadium? City of San Diego didn’t think so.

    • It needs to be demolished and remodeled as a football only venue like Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ world class stadium.

  6. Look at it this way. Los Angeles will be bidding for the 2024 Olympics. Not only is this good for business, it’s good for the State. More revenue for the state means more money for education, roads, etc. A renovation might help in securing the games. The Coliseum is the only place setup for track and field events to handle such a event in L.A.

    • Odds seem favorable to snag the Olympics even with that grinning momma’s boy Garcetti as the mayor. One more major terrorist act in Paris and you have to wonder why not anticipate even more come 2024?

      • That’s a good point. People need to feel secure. The IOC is considering voting on who gets the the Olympics first. Only L.A and Paris in the running for both 2024 and 2028. If something does happen in Paris? Your guess is as good as anyone’s. Back to back Olympics? Crazy!

        • Yeah! Yeah! Back-to-back! THAT would drive both ‘frisco and New York absolutely nuts!

    • So we have to suffer every season with lousy sight lines far from the action on the field to accommodate a once every 40 year event? Brilliant thinking…

  7. Change is good……….I heard the Print Media seats are on the other side of the 110
